Pretty sinister looking speed demon you're building there.

What Castle motor is that one? I can't read the can, 4000Kv? Looks like it is going to be a serious land rocket.

Wow, it's beautiful!
I hope you were wearing a mask when you cut that carbon! Not that I really have any right to talk, I don't wear one as much as I should.

The motor is a 4600kv. It's max rpm is 100,000 rpm and 6s technically achieves higher. But I know the aerodynamics will be holding the car back before I reach those kinds of RPMs.
And when I was cutting this, I can't tell you how fast and smooth the cutoff wheel went right through this stuff. I would guess it took less than 5min to cut the chassis out. I do still need to do a little filing inside the front suspension openings. But the long cut looks and feels just as smooth as the factory outer edges that the sheet came with. I also was expecting a little chattering or hopping. It literally slid right through like it was cutting butter.

I held my breath as I was making a cut. That works the same right

That's a pretty cool build!
However,
The plan is start on 4s and move up to 6s.
4S is gonna toast that can in short order, 6S even faster. Per a conversation with the manufacturer, those Castle 540 motors are designed for 2S, can handle 3S in lightweight applications. ESC is irrelevant.

I knew the can was technically a 3s max. Guy I got the advice from when purchasing the combo ran his on 4s all the time with no issues at all. The 6s was a plan if the 4s doesn't achieve the speed I'd like. I honestly don't know much about these motors but I don't plan on bashing like some would in a big heavy vehicle with big tires. My temps should stay relatively low making 10 second runs every 10 min or so. Ill be surprised if the car goes past the 4lb range. With the higher gearing on 6s the load will also be less. We'll see I guess but you may be correct.

The problem of using a higher voltage than the motor is rated at is nothing to do with the load on it from the gearing and chassis weight, but entirely due to the maximum speed the motor can run at. Spin the motor at a faster speed than it is designed for and you can end up with the rotor magnet attempting to escape the can by going through the motor windings. It is why Castles 5700 motor is their 'fastest', because while they also make a 6900 and 7700 motors, running those on 3S like you can with the 5700 would destroy them.

The 4600 motor on 6s is 102,120rpms. The can has a max rpm of 100,000. I highly doubt I would max spin the motor while the car was driving. On 4s it would only be running 68,000 RPMs

Looking good. Direct linkage steering?
I have never actual weighed it, but I think my TC5 is about 4 lbs, give or take. That's with a 5800 2s2p and a fairly heavy body. Body is probably half pound by itself.
