One of the requirements to get on this board is to list your first RC car in your details. It's interesting to see what people list. So here is your chance to tell your story.
Mine was a Tamiya Frog that I got a few days before my 13th birthday. I lusted after on for a long time and finally relented and got me one. Her are my only vintage photos of it after I made a roll cage for it in Welding class.

I think I've told my story a hundred times. So here's the cliff note's version. My first rc was a Tamiya Frog which I too received just after my 13th birthday. My mom ordered it from the Sharper Image. It was on back order for a couple of months. I got a humppack battery, the Frog kit, an Acoms 2-stick radio and a 14hr trickle charger for $150. Unfortunately, I don't have any vintage pics of it. But, there are some before and after restoration pics at my tamiyaclub showroom.

I'd tell ya, but then I'd have to kill ya, because you'd banish me from the site otherwise ...
First RC was a Clodbuster, about 10 years ago. I had wanted an RC for years, and had even started looking at them in toy stores and such. Then for my birthday, my sister decided to get one for me and she knew that I wasn't impressed with the toys found in stores, so she did a little research and found an LHS. She took me to several until we found the clod, kicked the tires so to speak, and went home with it. A year or so later that was followed with another clod, then a POS T-Maxx. I acquired another set of clod axles after that (still sitting in a box ... ), then last summer I snagged a HiLux and a Fox - the Fox is what brought me here, the camaraderie is what's kept me here.
Still trying to decide what to do with the HiLux and Fox.
Now, aren't you sorry you asked?

Here was mine... it was Christmas time (1983 I think). I got this new built from my grandfather, complete with a $30.00 Challenger 2 stick radio... my brother got the Holiday Buggy. What you see is like three or four layers of paint later. I like to think of it as the beginning of the end (or where I am at today, the END).

Mine was a futabe fx-10, I still have it. I guess I was probably 7 or 8. There was a track/hobby shop right about 1/2 mile away from my house. I would ride my bike there all the time and watch them race. I can remember the store owner had his jrx-2 on the counter showing my dad how everything worked on one, and explaining the cost difference between it and the fx-10 due to the x2 not coming with motor/speed control. He went ahead and got me a magnum jr remote, so I would already have the nicer controller for later. The track closed down a year or so later, but when I started racing, probably 5 or 6 years later, at a track an hour or so away. I remembered seeing several of the guys racing at that track.

My first car was a Tamiya Opel Ascona...it was a crap...The second and first really good race car was an Ultima. I wanted a RC10, but they were very expensive in France.
This is my Ultima with option house hop-ups and Salute body, probably in 88 or 89...can't remember.

The first proper rc car I drove was my mates Frog and the first car of my own was the Kyosho Raider.I have been hooked on rc cars ever since my mate let me look through his Tamiya catalogue with pictures of cars splashing through water and jumping through sand dunes.

mine was a Tamiya Lunchbox, which i bought from a older kid who i think wanted money for crack or weed or something, so i talked him down to $40 for it, complete with radio/ESC etc.. Ran it for a few days and loved it, but broke like 6 parts on it. luckily the SMALL LHS a block from my house always had every part i broke on it, even though the shop was small as hell.
i then traded that for a rc10 gold 6010 kit with no electronics but in great shape from a local guy who just bought a graphite kit i think and was using that to race.
i played around as much as i could with the 6010 kit until i broke down and asked for a team car for christmas.
So i think the Black Tub Team car was the first car i ever ran and assembled. lasted me for years.. i still have the car.. in 200 peices, but i still have it!!! lol. There came to a point with that car where i upgraded EVERY SINGLE part for it to a aftermarket part.. i think the ONLY original peices on the car were the black chasssis/nose plate, the stealth tranny casing, and maybe like the front axles or something lol..

My first was an AYK RX2000, still got it. It came with a DeTomaso Pantera body, so much bigger than the TOJs and Schkees that everyone else used that it was nicknamed the tank until I could afford a more suitable shell. Siliconing the tyres for racing on the polished wood floors meant having to find somewhere to store the coated tyres so the house didn't smell of vinegar each week. Got a good second hand deal of two complete cars, the one I raced had the alloy radio plate heavily drilled to reduce weight, thankfully I only attacked one of the cars. Here's the good one.

Mine was a Tamiya Stadium Blitzer, given to me in about 1994 by a customer who was cleaning out a VW he was flipping... The truck is long gone, but I still have the radio (the "good" Magnum Sport with all the knobs) and it's seen regular bashing use ever since...
