The Pink Nightmare impulse buy.

So we're at my inlaws for Christmas. On Christmas Eve I headed over the LHS looking for some parts to rebuild the shocks on my SC10. They have a track there and I've run there a handful of times so I'm at least familiar with a few of the guys. Anyway, I'm browsing through the AE parts and this guy comes over to me saying that he had an old graphite RC10 that he wants to sell. I said I'd look at it...next thing I know I said that if he had the front shocks to match the back ones I'd take it.....so I wound up handing him (not a lot of) money and taking the car home.

It looks like its in pretty good shape, just needs a cleaning. Not sure about the pink though...I wonder if I can re-dye it black....or maybe just freshen up the pink.. I really didn't need this, but what the heck, right!

Nice grab! You can for sure dye the parts black. Not sure a re-dye to pink will look well with the spots and such the arms have.

You could probably also dye to a red or purple, red and black would look good.

Definitely leaning towards black.

I actually want to do a pink one someday. Dang, I would seriously consider trading the black parts in return for the pink parts. Could the faded pink be dyed back to bright pink?

great rc10! did you get the stock front shocks? if yes id put them on clean it up and keep it close to it as is .. i feel like the mint white or black plastic rc10s are all over this site. some times i like to do a frozen in time, cleaned up rc10. if it was mine id use that chassis to make a mint graphite rc10, then id put a metal chassis on that one.. anyway unless the scratches on the bottom are real deep id keep that chassis for a shelfer cause nice chassis without the frontend busted seem to be getting hard to find

I'm liking your ideas! If I thought I could get that pink freshened up.....maybe I'll try it. The chassis is really nice. I'm wondering if those marks might buff out or something.

Let me know if you change your mind. I'm sitting on a ton of black parts. Lol.

Ok, so it's been a really long time since I've dyed anything.....only ever used RIT powdered dye. Now I see they have liquid....does it work as good? What about other brands of dye?

Liquid has worked fine for me. Most other brands do not dye the nylon parts very well. At least that is what I have found.
