I want to purchase this car from a seller but not 100% sure its a RC12i original. Was the Rc12i kit ever release in "Black Fiberglass"?
I am not sure if they car has anything missing, or modified from what the original should be. Maybe you guys can tell me?

Looking from the pics he sent me I Notice the rear body mounts is missing, and area where it would have mounted on the top plate look like that part of fiber glass been removed? Can anybody confirm if such a top plate exist or was the top plate moded?

Also I notice the front Battery post are missing. There is a white servo mount? I thought the Rc12 never had servo mounts? Is this a mod, or does it exist in the black fiberglass version?

Does this car have a ball differential or not? Because he could have used the RC12e shaft?

If you guys notice anything else let me know? Do you guys think its worth it to buy it and how much? I don't want to have to spend extra to fix this thing either

Early 12i, chassis was likely dyed black. The early had no front springs instead using chassis flex. Also no front posts on early cars. Upper radio tray is trimmed of its body mount tabs, they broke a lot. Ball diff was standard, likely a hollow steel axle where the later had graphite. Servo mounts are not stock, battery straps and the metal attachments are stolen from a kyosho

The steel axle is hollow? So it's more like a pipe then?

Would it be possible they had black fiberglass back in the day, or possible aftermarket back then. Dying rc parts is relatively a new trend right? This car look like it wasn't used for like several decades. Kent Clausen world champion car had some black fiberglass parts on it

Anything is possible but dying isn't new era. It was more likely dyed but without seeing good pics of it, hard to say. His steering blocks were dyed as well

The early axles that were steel on the 12i were hollow from my experiences. There may be solid ones but I haven't run across any. If there is no diff, it was either swapped in or it was from a club racer version that I have seen mention of in the instructions but never seen one pop up

Do you think it even worth if if i offered him $30 as roller and its local pick up. Given the fact it missing body post and battery and top plate might need to replace or fixed is it worth it?

Or better getting one on ebay? I seen them some go for around $40-50 on ebay but then i have would have to pay $20 shipping and possible customs
But i guess with local pick up i can inspect it.

The motor in it is prob worth more than the car

$30 just for the roller but it does include the motor. still worth it?

I mean a runner in the sense that you plan to run it. It probably wouldn't be a great car to restore, but as a runner it looks great
