I swear I remember a small 2 speed tranny that was round, about the size of a 540 motor can cut in half, and it bolted directly to the motor where the motors shaft would insert into 2 speed. The 2 speed had a 1/8 shaft to mount pinion onto. It was gold in color, can't remember the manufacturer but I think they were out some time ago. Anybody know what Im talknig about?

I bought one of these, they are still available I believe. If I remember correctly it either didn't have any brakes or my gear ratio was so tall that braking power wasn't there

Yeah, I heard they have no brakes...
Then I read somewhere that there was an advanced version that had brakes. Not sure about that one. I have a project that this would be sweet in.
Anyone know where I can find one? None on the bay that I could find...

Pair one of those with an HPI 2-speed top shaft and how many speeds could you hypothetically get.
