This is the original RC10T that came out in the early 90s

My plans are restoring it and updating the radio, reciever, brushless motor/ESC and a 3s Lipo battery.


It has been fun so far and I hope to have it pretty much wrapped up by the end of the month.

As I pulled it out of the garage....



I like this picture because it shows how I rigged the back turnbuckles so that I could run them, even though the ballcups wouldn't stay on. I had to thread it WAY in... making the wheel camber VERY negative. What you can't see is the superglue that is caked over them. A new set is already here!





I was pretty hard on it!

Dissesembly starting.... The chassis is scratched badly, but I have sandblasted it and will powdercoat it this weekend





Almost all apart. I took the stealth transmission off later




Bare!




The stealth transmission was complete, but ROUGH! Could barely turn it over by hand. It is getting a full set of bearings to replace a few bushings that were in it and cleaned very well.

Got a few things ordered so far

-2.4 gh radio and reciever
-new turnbucles and cups
-Found an ORIGINAL RC10T body!
-Team new screw kit
-Full set of 4 yellow wheels(Original NOS RC10T 3-piece wheels)

These are going to look LEGIT!


New Team associated radio that comes in some of their RTR kits. It will be more than I need to make this thing easily controllable at any distance!




Thankfully I snagged the ONLY original RC10T body I could find. I plan on going with an original paint scheme except putting some in yellow, to match the wheels.

Thats very cool that you are restoring your own truck from back in the day.

Yes, I am excited about it as well.

I am going back factory black on the chassis and should be doing it soon.

It is already sandblasted.

Cleaned the tranny, filed between the gears to get out the crud and old broken pieces, redid the Stealth diff, and soaked the white case in clorox. Pretty happy with it so far.

It was pretty complete, but all the parts shown so far have been found on eBay.

Yeah I have been looking but haven't found anything that i needed.

I spend way too much time on there.

Got a WELCOME surprise last night. Tore down my box the seller shipped my body in and found it was a RC10 Worlds car box he turned inside out that is in GREAT shape. Can you say wall art?

Talking to donkey on here about helping me lay down a slick paint job on it.... I am going to try and take the RC10 World edition body and apply it on my RC10T. It looks good with the yellow wheels on the RC10, so I am hoping it looks just as good on my truck.

It'll be fine. I've been hammering all of mine mine with brushless and 2 cell or 3 cell lipos for some time, no issues.

I will also be buying my FIRST lip batteries! Anyone have anything for sale?

eBay there, too. Lots of ~5,000 mAh 2S options for around $30.

Are you staying brushed? If so, remember that you do not want to over-discharge a LiPo. Brushless ESCs have low voltage cut-off built into them, but many (most) brushed ESCs do not.

I'm going brushless and lipos.


It is a roller again. I test fit the body last night as well and it fits great. I am not sure why he put the antenna hole where he did, but I think I can make it work.

You've gone to 2.4 GHz; unless you're going to be letting it get a long way off, the antenna doesn't even need to come out of the body. The antenna on my e-801XT just lays along the battery tray, and I've had no issues at the furthest distance I've run it so far, close to 200 yards.

All of my kits are 2.4 now; on most of them, the antennas live under the body.
