Ignorant Question About ESC/Recievers

As above. Why is there not a single receiver / Esc unit on the market? Is there some technological hindrance to having such a single unit combination. Rf interference? IDK.

I would think mainly due to the specific purposes of each device and wide variety of options available. Many of your cheaper smaller cars come with 2-n-1 units. I for one like being able to purchase them seperately, and if one component died it doesn't render the other useless.

I would absolutely love that! I would never buy a esc and a receiver seperate again.

They did it back in the day but never with high end equipment.

Tamiya was the last hobby-grade company I recall doing CPR units, which was their combined ESC and receiver. They were still selling them in XB TT01 cars a few years ago, but that model no longer seems to be on their website.
Biggest issues with them were usually:
- Combined unit, so one failure means replace two items (speed control and receiver)
- Limited frequency - I only ever saw them in 27MHz AM.
- Pretty low specification - the most recent ones I think were only good for as hot as a Sport Tuned.
- SIZE.... usually bigger than the combined space of a decent ESC and receiver.
I know the earlier ones, as seen in the old Tamiya Guide Books in Avantes and the like, are pretty rare and worth a bit in the collector market... but only because of where they were pictured, rather than their functionality...
Sorry I can't answer anything on the RF Interference question..... but hope the other stuff helps.
