Hi, I have an opportunity to buy the Schumacher RS, new in box (see below) for $150. But I can't find much information about it.

All I've found is it is based on the Pro Cat. Not too much to work off of.

I've never had a Schumacher. I've seen the pictures of the Pro Cat, and it looks like it would be a nice addition to my collection.

Is it worth it to pick it up? Should it be a shelf queen?

But for 150 bucks You can´t go wrong - either You shelf it or drive it, it´s Your decision :D

The chassis is the Procat, the only differences are that you add pieces of silicone tubing to the shock shafts to limit travel, there is a narrow belt guard underneath instead of the undertray, and there are saloon body mounts fitted. To convert it to a Procat all you need is the rear wing mount, body, undertray, wing and tyres.

The price is good if you want it, and while the Procat wing mounts can be hard to find everything else is readily available to convert it into a Procat if you wish.

Thanks for the info. I picked it up but haven't decided if I'm keeping it for certain. I've picked up a lot of stuff recently, so this might have to go.

Yeah, it's a nice sturdy cardboard box, so it has maintained its shape very well.

The Tamiya and Kyosho kits I recently picked up have a minor amount of box collapsing due to them being stocked on each other. But this Schumacher one looks new.

I have a good stack of Schumacher kit boxes as storage, and they do hold their shape very well.... but none look as crispy nice as that one!!!

Such a nice kit........

This is my only Schumacher kit. I drooled over the pictures of the Cat in RC Car Action in the 80's and 90's, but never picked one up with my limited little kid budget

I'll probably have to keep this one. But I'm not sure if I will keep it unbuilt, build it as is, or convert it to a Pro Cat. I already saved the repro Pro Cat body and wing on eBay...
