Traded a VXL system for an RC10T2

Found it on Craigslist. It's definitely rough, but was a fair deal for me. I've been wanting/waiting to get any form of vintage RC10 running and bashing for quite a while now, and will finally be able to!
Next steps:
- Full teardown and rebuild
- Install brushless
Planned configurations:
- Waterproof basher
- Sand rail/buggy

dayum! I wish I could unload some of my vxl stuff for t2
You got a great deal IMHO. You traded something what will ultimately fail for something that won't (thats just my experience anyway

) and it looks to be in really good shape for what I was expecting

Nice! I just got a T2 myself, can't wait to put it on the track.
I don't know why people are willing to pay/trade so much for the VXL systems; they're really pretty mediocre, about like Castle, IMO. I'll take Hobbywing or Tekin any day.

I've never compared rollers and electronics like this. Great observation man.
I read it's possible to change the wheelbase on a T2 to accommodate a T4 body, but when I inspected the chassis I didn't see any means to do this (at least without drilling new holes in the chassis myself). Is the adjust elsewhere?

@Sixtysixdeuce I don't know either, but I think the guy I traded with was having trouble ordering things online, so valued access to a BL system more. He was trying to buy one valuehobby lipo off me too. I told him I'd get some in and then trade him for Clod stuff.

Aah nice! I see the extra clearance holes now. Thanks. Here's pic in case any other RC10 noobs are interested in the adjustable wheelbase.

As far as fitting a T4 body you don't really need to extend the wheel base. I have a JConcepts Finisher body for the T4 mounted on my 10T with the wheel base extended on the chassis and rear suspension. I took it and mounted it to my T2 and it fits really well with the stock wheel base. I'm considering extending the wheel base on my T2 but looking at ball raced steering options before I do it.
I would say test fit it before if you have access to one.

Awesome score, I'd trade just about anything Traxxas for anything Associated. I too was expecting something a bit more thrashed but it looks to be in reasonably good condition.

You can move the rear arms back too with the extra set of holes in the mounts you have.
You're not going to miss that VXL stuff after you get that beast running
