Houge Trailing Arm "Black Sunshine" Build

Been a while since I've posted a build so Decided to start this Houge trailing arm car. Starting with mostly nip parts including chassis, trailing kit, MIP sp-1 with optional gear diff, tc-100 torque control and slipper assembly, Houge steering, JG front tower, RPM one piece suspension mount, Andys front arms, carriers and blocks, Undecided on shocks, litespeed heatsink, Trinity aluminum screw kit, possibly a Heathen body and other various black parts. I have the diff built and now working on the torque control unit. Just now realized that the one transmission case half needs a hole drilled for the torque control. Does not note this in the instructions and only shows the case halfs listed as part #sp10? Did not know they offered case halfs just for the torque control unit? Anyway, going with a mostly all black look. This is Black Sunshine

Thanks. Got the transmission completed. Needed to drill out the one case half for the torque control to work. Parts went together well but trans was not that smooth at first. I hooked up a test motor and ran for a few minutes, now it spins very nice. The trans is much louder than other ones I have but states this in the instructions that it is normal due to the metal gears. I got the chassis un-bagged and now working on assembling that. Been searching for a rear shock tower for the past hour that I know I have  It's a viscious cycle. I know I have it, stop to dig around through parts, find other cool parts along the way, forget what I was looking for in the first place, get back to the build, face palm as I forgot the shock tower, then search some more  Hope to get back to this later on tonight.

nice pile of parts eddie!

since you plan on using andy's arms, blocks, and knuckles, what about swapping the rpm bulkhead in favor of an andy's?

Good point Jason! Didn't think I had a Andys one piece but found one hiding in the parts bin after a bit of a search 8). Got some more done on this and it's starting to take shape. Went with a JG rear tower to go with the front JG tower. Still can't decide on shocks. Hard anno or goldies is the decision. Mip's were in the plan but saving those for another project. More pics to follow as I get more completed.

Looks great so far. I have a few of the Tc100 tork controls a gd100 diffs but never used them. I'm glad to see they work well. The downside of the Andy's rear bulkhead is there is no provision for wing tubes.

This car can't help but be cool given the impressive pile of NIP parts that it was born from.

Please keep the updates and pictures coming.

Then Eddie would need Andy's trailing arms and an Andy's chassis. ;)

I'm not 100% sure but I believe the Andy's bulkheads didn't come out until the Andy's molded chassis/pro race kits in '90 or '91 so they're more suited to an Andy's trailing arm car than a Houge. The RPM bulkhead is actually earlier since it started showing up in RCCA ads in '89.

My $0.02 would be stock AE front arm mounts and replace the Worlds rear bulkhead with a long wing tube rear bulkhead with the camber links chopped off. That Houge chassis doesn't have holes for rear a-arm mounts so no point in having camber link holes on the bulkhead. :)

Thanks everyone. Going to leave the rear bulkhead as it sits. I like the look of the worlds on there and I'm saving my Andy's one for that trailing build :D . Hope to complete more tonight.
