TRC Pro10

I told a story here a long time ago about running a car in the street without shoes on, hitting a curb, knocking the caster out of whack on a beam axle, and then running over my own foot—cutting my toes apart in the process.

This was the car I did that with.

It was a TRC Pro10, which was one of the first 1/10th scale carpet/pan cars to really take a hold of the mainstream market for 1/10th scale. This car, the Associated 10L, Delta Villain, and a handful of others were the cars to have in the late 80s.

I ran my car with an Andy's Jaguar XJR GTP body, with the separate rear wing. I have a photo of the original car somewhere, that I'm trying to find to scan for this thread.

This one, was the lucky find I had early last week that included the heavily modified RC10 as well as the bonus Kyosho Fantom. I bought the auction for THIS CAR, and the rest was just a bonus. It has cleaned up really well so far, though everything on the car had been glued together using some really nasty thread lock or CA. The servo had been silicone sealant glued down to the chassis, and that posed a bit of a problem to remove as well. Luckily, there isn't much that isn't restorable or fixable. The TRC BBS wheels with green/blue foam tires we skimmed in my truer to freshen up, and they are now like new. I even put a nice fresh coat of Paragon on them for that "old school" smell. :)

The car is essentially brand new, but still needs a bit more work to be perfect. The white threaded body posts long enough for a stock car will be replaced with shorter black threaded posts. The straight screws will all be replaced with the correct 4-40 black oxide steel alloy allen head screws throughout the car, and the Delta shock needs a rebuild. The front axle needs a cleanup, but aside from that, the car is perfect.

Happy day...

Really nice! Better than the junk I end up saving from the scrap heap.

I've got a few nib AE narrow XJR bodies if they would fit. :?

Thanks but nope, this was a wide chassis. I'm gonna just put the XJR now on my list of bodies to search for. I had a matching one in 1/12th scale at the time, too. They looked pretty cool sitting next to each other, painted the same. :)

Do you need black body posts?

I have some somewhere. Thanks, though. They are standard issue 8-32 Dubro nylon bolts, for the most part. If I don't have them lying around in a box of body posts, they should still be findable at the LHS.

What I REALLY need is an unpainted Andy's Jaguar XJR10. You don't happen to have one of those lying around, do you?

Not one that I currently have. I know it may be hard to believe, but it is true.

Oooh, a nice late version of that car after TRC and Composite Craft merged. Nice. Heh, I'm always gonna say BUILD IT! Unless you own it for the resale value, it does no good sitting in a box somewhere.

Oh my, yes. I would be forever grateful for an unpainted, uncut version. 1/10th or 1/12th would be awesome, but the 1/10th version is for this car.

I found the Jag bodies. I have one 1/12th and 1 1/10th. I removed both from the bag to take these pictures. I also found some Param Silk Cut decals that I was saving for these bodies. I don't know if they are the correct model you are looking for. I also have the associated jag that looks different than these. But I left it in storage.
