I finally got tired of looking at this dirty car sitting on the floor and decided to do something about it. Aside from a slightly stained chassis and scratches on the pan from being a driveway bomber it's in great shape, and hasn't seen a lot of use. I'm terrible at before pictures but this thing was pretty filthy.

The only real re-re part is the gear cover, I bought the body and wing well before the classic was announced, but I guess it could be considered re-re as well. Now that small wings are available I'll probably grab one of those as well.

So far I've only stripped and cleaned the car, half of the nylon is still soaking in peroxide till it gets a more uniform color. I can't stand stark white parts so I've been pulling them out as they hit a light shade of ivory.

Nearly finished, just need to build the trans and install battery cups. I thought I had enough 3/16 x 5/16 bearings but I was wrong.

So far it's not too bad but could use replacement bellcranks.

Great result mate, hope mine turns out half as nice, what strength peroxide did you use?

I'm surprised how hard it is to find peroxide in Australia, in the US you can buy big bottles at the supermarket. I use 3%, but since 6% is the same price I mix it 50/50 with water to make 3%. I find this gentle on the plastic and leaves a nice natural looking part.

I'll have a new 1/8 truggy to build first, ready for Nationals in Brisbane in July, but mine is definitely gonna be my next project.

I've got a set of rere bellcranks that I'll never use. You can have them.

I was hoping not to use re-re parts but I'll have a look through my stuff to see if I have any extras and let you know. It's a shame that the bellcranks in the car look new but are cracked at the ball studs They still work fine but knowing they're cracked bugs me. I know they tend to crack over time anyways so I probably shouldn't worry about it

It's that shoulder on the threads of the ball studs; it is bigger than the threads, so it puts a lot of stress on a threaded hole. If you try to screw it all the way into a metal part it won't even go in. Rigid plastic like the small Kimbrough servo savers can easily crack (pretty much every one I have ever see is actually).

HI!... Heat the ball ends up with a lighter before you screw them in. This way they kinda melt into the plastic as your screwing them in. Lot less stress on the plastic. This has been a tip used on Tamiyas for years.
