Has anybody done or even seen one of these in person? I love the look and was hopping to get that look when I bought my rere Sand Rover. but with the dt02 chassis its just not going to happen. I like that his is built on the SRB chassis and I dont have any problem useing my buggy champ for this build. I just wanted to no if its cheaply made or going to brake up if I run it. this is a BIG Budget Build if I do it, his suff is very pricey. but if its worth the price than thats great I will start saving my money and do one up.

about a grand wasn't it? By time you've added in all the bits & extras

Nice on the shelf but bit expensive for a beach basher :|

For feckless fun I'd rather do with a Parma Beachbuggy body
(heck that reminds me, havent found 1 meself yet) on a Slash.
Or for a grand you could buy 3-4 & invite your friends over 8)

Yea if you add in the SRB kit its about 400.00 for the body and parts. everything is seperate. the wait time is a little long I just found out my stuff wont be here for three weeks. so they must not have any stock on hand at all its all print to order. I get it but I feel you should have some on hand if your going to sell it to the public.

I think what the deal is that once shapeways gets the order, then they print it up. otherwise they would have to store tons of stuff that may or may not sell.

I think you can do it for under a grand but not by much lets brake it down. 785.38 plus shipping so far. plus then their are the options like drivers. roll cages, bumpers and so on. I dont think we will see many of these running around any time soon. as you cant even find a cheap SRB on ebay for much less than just buying a new one.
but for some reason I still want one they look so cool. like everything else hopefuly the tech will get cheaper and the price will come down.

405.41 body
329.97 SRB
50.00 ENG

I've priced one out with the mk2 engine at $461. I have plenty of SRB chassis for a donor.

There is a May coupon code that gets you 15% off but i can't get it to work. I've got an email into Shape Ways to see what they have to say

I couldn't justify spending that much on a body, just to have to sand the hell out of it. Most of the other parts say they have a polished finish but the pics still show a pretty decent texture. Maybe a high build primer and little sanding would hide most of it on the smaller parts. The wheel inserts look pretty smooth though.

I guess I am trying to talk my self into it. I could have 4 or 5 cars sitting on my shelf that arnt quite what I want or just sell off them and build what I truly want. I have 50 or 60 cars now that cost way over a grand. I think I am going to start selling of the shelf queens and conceritrate on a few of the cars I truly want not just a place heepers on the shelf. something I would want to take down and give it a good bash on the beach once in a while. insted of a crap load of pretty things sitting on the shelf like a model car. I have over 800 of them also.

I really feel my days of collecting just to have a nice car just to have it! are over I really want fewer cars but better quality cars and must be what I truly want. in 81 I walked into a hobby shop for the first time on my own and that sand scorcher called to me, Ihad to have it. but I was 14 and it was never to be had untill the rere's but my Scorcher is here now and will be here to stay. I have been spending a lot of time over at the SBG what a site those guys talented!!

The one your talking about is a super champ and isn't really going to work for what you need. If you need a chassis I can hook you up. Pm me and we can talk.

Okay I'm in. I got one on order and your right it's going to take forever to get it. It's going to ship around 5/28. In the meantime I'm going to dig out a donor chassis. I'm thinking the best bet for durability will be an aluminum chassis instead of the stock fiberglass one.

I agree, Ive never seen anything printed in person, so I have no idea what to expect. I guess all that bothers me is for that kind of money I sure hope it can hold up to some beach bashing. thats way to much money to just be a model car sitting on a shelf. but I cant wait till I can order mine.
