Just a teaser/proof of concept pic for now since I finally picked up a chain and the project actually looks like something tangible.

TPS transmission is custom made out of delrin...parts have all been mirrored so that it can be used mid-motor. At the front is a TPS sprocket with homemade bearing holders to convert it into a one-way. The delrin block that the front sprocket is attached to is only a mock-up right now, to get the positioning correct. It is attached to the kick-up using the inside front arm mount holes...which are freed up by using an RPM one piece front bulkhead mounted in reverse. I'll eventualy chop the top off the front transmission halves and use them as the front mounting points of a top deck.

Not sure if I'm going to keep the car built on the ARP chassis or cut a G10 one with an aluminum front kick-up. If I do change chassis I will lower the kick-up angle and narrow up the front end to use wide front arms.

It clears but the chain does get magnatized to the motor if it's too loose.

Thats a pretty wicked prototype, looks awesome. There is an optima build blog that the guy drove the rear on a chain and used a suspension pivot ball as a guide, came to mind as a way to keep chain off the motor or as a tensioner. heres the link

That's a pretty neat Optima. I was going to put a mono-shock up front on my car too just to give it another attraction point.

The TPS trans already has a tensioner of it's own but I may add another roller up front when I make the top deck.

love seeing stuff like this, true genius. Its an inspiration to us all in the sense that even an average joe can imagine, plan, conceptualize and prototype a complex piece of machinery. It seems that the coming generations are so conditioned to instant gratification that they are not willing to even imagine the possibilities, but rather just buy what big corporations deem profitable and throw it away when they get bored. I know that the build for me is a priceless experience and when it is done, the sense of self satisfaction and acomplishment will be worth the blood, sweat, and tears and it becomes a trophy in itself. I look forward to seeing this project progress and thank you for taking on this feat of determination and complexity.

I think this is why I love this forum, soo many like minded individuals sharing ideas and a love of tinkering. It doesnt matter what brand it is or whether it seems worth doing, ( RCtech attitude), you will get constructive critiques and good help here.
