Whats the hot brushless combo setup these days for a 2wd sc truck. Truck will be run mostly on a clay offroad track.

Looking for esc and motor suggestions. Motor will most likely be a 10.5

Thanks!

I like the combo I chose for OptiMutt; it's a Leopard Toro combo with 12T/3300kV motor & 60A ESC...it's very smooth. I dialed down the punch quite a bit mind you, I'm sure it has a lot more torque than I have it currently configured for.

If that's not enough power for you, they also make a combo with 10T and 9T motors; just search eBay for "Leopard Toro".

Team Orion Vortex R10 Pro esc with a reedy sonic Mach 2. I recently put this combo in my b44.2 and love it. I also got the programming box for the esc also and is just awesome being able to fine tune it to my liking.

I'm a Castle fanboy myself. Have their combos in all cars and they are great.

I've been running a speed passion reventon pro/speed passion v3.0 8.5t combo in my zx5 and I really like that combo. It has plenty of power and the esc is butter smooth. Before that I was running novak kinetic and IMO the speed passion is the better of the two.

The last 2 Novak esc's I had went to hell for no apparent reason so Im done with those. I really like the features on the speed passion stuff but I purchased a combo a while back and the esc didnt work right out of the box so that left a bad taste in my mouth. I screwed up and lost the purchase receipt so I was unable to return it. I was very happy with the 8.5 motor it came with.

I think I might take a chance and go with SP again. Everything I hear about them is really good (except the experience I had) and the price is fair too. I think I'll go with the Reventon Pro 1.1 and a 10.5 MMM motor. That brings up another question. Is the extra $ the MMM is over the V3 motor worth it? I think in a combo the MMM combo is about $20-30 more.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

Lots of great reviews on the Toro esc's, never had one myself though. I think they're based on other "big name" manufacturers but at a cheaper price.

I've had tekin, novak, speed passion, lrp, hobbywing and castle esc's. I will not buy another novak!!!!
