My ultima is feeling a bit blue...

I'm still working on my original Ultima project, and I've known for a while that I wanted a Pro XL. I ran across this on ebay for a pretty good price. I'm sure you've spotted the problem. Someone got bored and said, "Man, I really want a blue ultima!" So I really would like to strip the paint off, but of course I don't want to damage or melt the plastics. What do you guys think?

I saw that one. It was looking pretty smurfy!

I'd try Super Clean first, seems to be safe on the kyosho plastics ans worst case it won't take the paint off. Keep it away from aluminum tho!!!

gomachv help me out here...this version is the last of the vintage Ultimas right? I'm always confused by the Pro XL because I think one had the shorter original arms, and I think the last model had the longer arms right?

That's my understanding, pro xl was longer and had the wide arms, regular pro didn't.

Before you go all-in you could try different methods/chemicals on a cheap part. That's how I would do it. You have at least three different materials underneath; metal, fibre-glass and plastic. Good luck!

How different is Kyosho plastic from white Traxxas nylon?
Acetone was fine on my Hawk 2's plastic, aluminum, steel hardware, and fiberglass.
The previous owner had painted everything black.
Nice car, I hope it cleans up.

i would throw the whole car in royal purple cleaner. its safe and if the guy used testors model paint should come off easy with no harm to any parts. if he used any other paint than u have your work cut out for ya. the stuff i use is purple power its like a off brand of royal purple iam guessing i buy it at advanced auto.

Is the royal purple safe on aluminum? Super clean or purple power is NOT, it will eat it!

Id watch the recommendations to "throw the whole car in" if you've only used it on plastics!

just throw it in a pie crust, set the oven to 350 for 30mins and i bet that blueberry pie would be yummy  well i hope u got a really good deal cause it looks like it might take more money to fix the car than it might be worth if that paint cant be stripped and parts reused :? in my opinion.
