COUNTING CARS:)

So out of the blue, my wife visited the hobby/game room and asked if I knew how many RC cars I have. I guessed around thirty, but was off by a factor of more than 2. I was surprised, it doesn't look like that many, but having been in the hobby since 1986, it sneaks up on you. Most of my collection is cars that I have built and run, with a few nice shelf queens mixed in.

So for a sanity check, I thought I would ask you my fellow RC10Talk friends, do you know how many RC Cars you have? Post your guess and actual count here:

- Limestang

My Guess: 30
Actual: 72

I am counting built (80% or more complete).

I tried to work up a count on mine a few weeks ago. I think I was at 22 then but I've bought 3 more since then. I've probably got enough parts to put together several more too!

As above, does this include complete or completed cars or projects and potential projects? I think I have about 50 complete cars and maybe half that in project form.

Wow, I'm a light-weight compared to the most of you. I'm at roughly 37. Adding a B5M to the list shortly.

I still have a lot more than I originally guessed and I probably forgot a couple.

I'm not counting, that might be like accepting that I have an issue...and evidence of my buying habits for the spouse

Due to the fact that im an honest person and vowed not to lie to my wife, I refuse to actually count how many cars I have. Lets just say more than a few/alot and growing.

Hi my name is Brian and Im an ebay-o-holic.

I have somewhere around 50 models right now.

I've sold about ten models in the last couple years.

I gave up trying to do this sort of 'stocktake' years ago... as once I start, I realise just how many projects I've had for too many years without even starting them. Case in point is my Schumacher Nitro 10 range... back when they were rare, I picked up almost every one that popped up on the 'Bay. Got some nice barely used trucks stashed away, as well as some rare projects (Nitro 4x4, Daytona), and a new almost built (Nitro 21XS)... but when I delve a little deeper, the number of trucks awaiting rebuilds hits double digits (!!!), and I put them all away again for a few years.

Note that this is just one small model range from one manufacturer.......

Yes, I realise I may have a problem..... well, ANOTHER problem.....

4 cars that are completed (all linked in my signature), that I'd consider to be runner shelf-queens; perhaps a contradiction in terms, but I don't believe in having cars on a shelf that can't/won't be run. Three projects on the go; all are on-road cars. Two of those I'm already working on, the third is on the back-burner.

I know this post will impress no-one, but I just seem to lack the collector or hoarder gene. I do hope to put out my best effort with every build, taking no short-cuts, trying for everything to be logical, functional and aesthetically pleasing; not always an easy task.

To be honest, I was MAYBE planning on building a second Optima with spare parts I'd accumulated over the years after I finished the Zebra Optima original car I had from the 80's, but nobody was interested in buying my spare parts back when I joined the forum, so it made more sense for me to use those parts and build another car...which turned into 3 more cars. So, at least I've exceeded my own expectations.

If someone asked, I'd have guessed around 10 runners and another 10 or so projects, and maybe a couple more cars' worth of parts.

Actual count: 12 runners (some need to share receivers), 3 new-built or restored cars that haven't been run since restoration (I refuse to call them "shelf queens" because they WILL get run someday), 11 incomplete projects or cars currently awaiting repairs/modifications, and 5 "basket cases" (cars that I have at least half of, but not enough to make a roller).

Not as bad as I was afraid it would be, actually...
