Our middle child daughter #2 has decided to venture off to Argentina with your boy friend on an Adventure Excursion on a Russian copy of a Germany (BMW) WWII motor cycle. After completing her masters in material engineering two months ago, BS is in physics. Kids got all the brains in this family.
They departed Friday at 1:30pm for TJ to get paper work for Mexico done and then slowly making their way to Mexico City. Their plans are to arrive in Buenos Aires around Christmas. Anyone interested can fallow them on their web site adv-ex.com.
Sure hope they stay safe!

Wow, that sounds like one hell of an adventure!
Hope they stay safe!
I read a book of a similar but solo journey written by Neil Peart.

The rockumentary, Beyond The Lighted Stage, is partly based on Peart's journey after suffering some family tragedies, and more generally about the band Rush...one of the best documentaries I've seen in a good while. Well worth the time to watch it.
Good luck to the kids on their journey, hope all goes well...I'm sure they'll get some great memories. I really enjoyed my visit to Mexico City a couple years ago.

On their way down from San Jose they came across a guy on a 650 KTM adventure bike doing the same trip solo. He is taking a year to do it or more. He is an oil company engineer in Canada - when he runs shot on funds he stores the bike flies home works for two weeks and then flies back and continues. Must be nice?

UP date - they made it to Mexico City yesterday, they seem to be having a wonderful time and to have met a lot of great people. Some of whom are doing the same type of trip on adventure bikes like KTMs and BMWs.

You might suggest (if they have time) that they visit the Museum of Anthropology, the pyramids at Teotihuacan (the Sun Pyramid is the third largest in the world and it's well worth stepping up to the top for some great pictures) and the botanical gardens are also worth a visit if they want to relax and unwind a bit. What I liked most about D.F. is that it's a totally different experience than the beach & palm trees, surrounded-by-tourists one, which can get a little old. You really get a taste of the local culture. I bet they're excited travelling to D.F. by motorbike!

Very cool, I hope they stay safe! I know how those third world countries roll! Most people will give you the shirt off their back, but the few others will take yours!
I went to Banff yesterday with my wife on my dual sport and got monkey butt after just 2 hours of riding. I don't know how these guys can ride all day? My ass must be extra sensitive!

First of all Congratulations to your daughter!!!!!!. Although I like sticking to 4 wheels, I have always LOVED vintage bikes, especially WW2 ones. Thats one cool looking bike, like the low, long frame, thats what sets these things apart from the new ones. Wow side car, NICE. Man looks like they are very well equipped. HELL of an adventure for sure!
