Mud Boggin' at the Local Fair

My brother finally got his TJ partially finished just in time for a mud bog at the local fair yesterday. Not too bad for a streetable 6-cylinder since a majority of the Super Modified class was running V8's. And of course, the top spots were filled with purpose-built, high-HP V8's on spray.

He's running the original 6-cylinder stroked to a 4.8L, narrowed Dana 60's with a rear spool, and almost-bald 39.5" Boggers which are just for this type of stuff. He's planning to get 38.5" Boggers for the street.

 Yikes! that is some serious mudding! 8) So why did he pull into the mud and then gun it? Is that part of the rules? You would think they would let them get a run at it.

After a few trucks run through it and are pulled back, the mud gets dragged back probably 10-15 feet past the start line. There were some trucks in the street class that barely made it to the start line because it was so deep.

And they can't really let people get too much of a run because the pit is only 100 feet long and some of these trucks in the open class have huge horsepower...I think the fastest time of the night was 3.8 seconds.

I have more videos of the faster trucks I'll try to upload.

Here's the winner of the Open class running cut Boggers and a 300-shot of nitrous:
