JG Truck

I just recently got this truck and wanted to know more about it, I think it is the SRT version but am not sure. Also the guy I bought it from said it was from a driver but he could not remember if he was a team driver or his name. If you recognize this truck and know who it belonged to please let me know I would be interested in its history. The truck is fully equipped with hop ups only thing missing is a different transmission it seems. The plan for this is to rebuild it with most of the same parts just clean it and re lube everything then put it on the shelf with the others. Thanks for any info. Also is it safe to use simple green and have these parts soak overnight in it?

Did you see my post in your other thread? http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=36304

It is an SRT. Unlikely an AE team drivers car but maybe someone racing for JG. AE team drivers would've been driving a 10T by the time the SRT got the Stealth upgrade.

The guy you got it from wouldn't happen to have had any spare front arms would he?

Looks like associated to me..... gold motor plate, and all the screw holes on the bottom look to be in the right location

It used RC10 parts but the chassis, delrin arms, drive shafts, shock towers, body, body mounts, wheels, and tires were made by JG. Arms are shorter than RC10T arms but the wheels have monster truck conversion extra offset to bring it out as wide as a 10T.

I am not sure but I will ask for you tomorrow. He did have two other cars from the same guy that raced the one I got but those were a kyosho ultima and something else I didn't recognize so he might have spare parts for the cars. Do you happen to know any place that reproduces the JG decals I would like to get a few to replace them on this truck. Also any good tips on how to get rid of some of the scratches on the chassis?

The chassis doesn't look bad...maybe see how it cleans up with just dish soap and hot water before trying to repair it. If it had heavier wear or extra holes I might suggest filler and painting but I wouldn't on that truck. So long as it's not trashed a raced car can still look good on a shelf.

I don't know of anyone doing JG decal repros. Andrewsi has some sheets for sale in the BST forums but they're not the same color, or as large as the one on the bottom of your car.

Okay thanks I will see how it cleans up first, and I guess I will have to keep an eye out for those decals and just apply them later when I find them. Thanks for all the help I'm sure I will have more questions later for you haha. Ill keep an eye out for those front arms for you as well.

well I got it all torn down and cleaned. Next step is to give the white parts a peroxide bath and then find another rear bulkhead as this one is broken.

Heads up on the suspension parts....being delrin instead of nylon they might not react the same way to a peroxide bath. They could possible turn yellow or even something worse.

Maybe someone here has tried it and can chime in on whether peroxide is safe to soak delrin in.

Yeah I was nervous of the arms to and didn't want to take the risk so I left them out, they look clean enough to me. Thanks for the warning though.

Got it all cleaned and reassembled, didn't want to really change anything or get nip parts to show the race history on this car so it was just a cleanup. Still looking for the right JG stickers to put on it and maybe change to Lunsford tie rods in the future.

After 10.5 years, this truck has changed hands ............. to another RC10T member! :D It just moved 100 miles east.

Does anyone have original print / ad information? Would the body and tires be original? Would this have been purchased as a complete roller? I have never liked the diamond plate tires, just my opinion. And the body is very narrow for a vehicle specifically made to be so wide.
