Hi all

I bougth this car at ebay few days ago from Germany , It was advertised as "RC Vintage Chassis Team Associated Vintage RC10L Asso Pan Car Carbon Tamiya Karo" (Karo =body)

yesterday I received it and this is sure not a rc10L , unless it would be another kind of vintage associated

it is a 235mm wide car same as rc10L , has black fiberglass chassis, does not have "T-bar" suspension , it has ball bearings in the rear pods with tipical associated height adjuster blocks, and has a brass sleeve instead of bearings at front wheels
front wheels are held by c-clips and rear wheels by a giant alloy hex nut, same way as 80's kyosho plazma , but bigger sized

has ball diff and 32 pitch gear

it has no markings of manufacturer in any part

rear wheel hubs are round with a chamfer to transmit the power to the wheels

I suppose the mechanical speed control has been a drop-in by someone at some stage, because the screws that hold it and the location drills are not original

front bumper looks a perfect copy of rc10L

body is brush painted (not factory painted) and does not match any tamiya as far as I know

seller told me this car has been with him at least 20 or 25 years

at least it was cheap!!!

does anyone know who manufactured this 235mm car?

Hi Terry.

thank you very much for your fast answer, now the seller and me know what brand is this.

Now we know the brand, I had just done a search and found Flying Point also done a few gas 1/8 buggies, some sold under their own name and some others rebranded as "Duratrax" and as "Tower Hobbies" to name the most know.

I also found a comment somewhere telling Flying Point was a brand based in Taiwan and was active during all the 90's until the owner of the company passed away.

But about this electric on-road there is very few information. Only found 2 cars like it pictured, mine is the third.

If possible it would like to know if it was a kit or RTR , if motor was included and which and if the body pictured here is original, if someone can give more info it will be nice!! At Pro-10.com it wears a good looking motor and no body. and other sample i had found in google pictures has a modern brushless and no body too.

Until now I had dismantled it totally , made a good clean-up with degreaser soap and rebuild it. It has recovered nicely the original shine in the white parts, a white much more white than the Associated cars , Pictures of rebuilt chassis soon.

best wishes
Jose
