Help with body restoration please.

As you can see from the shots I need to carry out some refurbishment work on this shell, the problem is I'm paintaphobic and I don't want to stuff this body up (it's one of the reasons I bought the car it was fitted on).
Any suggestions would be appreciated, the paint has rubbed off right through and I wondered how to prep the areas (what cleaning fluids to use) and then if there are any clever methods to use for local touch ups
I would have just had a new body painted but I think some of the decals are almost impossible to find or replace (unless someone can advise me differently) so I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and have a go.

touch-up is pretty easy. The hardest part is finding a good match for the paint, which is only a problem when you did no paint it yourself as in this case.
I usually wash with dish-soap and water first and let it dry fully.
Then use a small brush or q-tip to apply a small amount of paint to the scuffed areas. You may have to do a couple coats to get the depth of color just right. The inside of the body will look a little splotchy due to patches of fresh paint, but from the outside it should look good.
For colors that were from a spray-can, I have sprayed some paint onto scrap plastic and put it on with a brush with good results.

That almost sounds simple, I think I can do that, thanks

I used Pactra gold on that body. I would hit it with some steel wool, clean up the body with soapy water then tape off the area and just spray those spots. I should have put tape under the body in those areas where it rubbed the chassis.

Does pactra make a gold spray anymore? I've only been able to find it in the jars.

Thanks Shodog I will go paint hunting this weekend

and I will use the wire wool in prep.
Apart from these little rubs and a couple of pinstripes coming away here and there the body is in pretty much mint condition, I just want it to be as good as I can make it.

Be warned: Pactra has (had?) some of the most aggressive paints available for lexan. It may eat other paints, no matter how many years they had to dry.
