The Works chassis had aluminum bulkheads, while the 870c used magnesium bulkheads. You could mimic a Works chassis, though, by just taking an 870c and putting Works suspension arms on it, but technically speaking, there are more parts that are different in some small way on the Works chassis than are the same.

Its always a good idea to buy up a bunch of 870c cars.

On a side note, stickboy can you confirm that 870c and works 91 chassis will have identical length between bulk heads,, so same diffs and belts and drive pullies can be used between cars? I know 91 had 2mm belts,, but other than that should be interchangeable?

If this is the case, then is it same for works 93 chassis? It would be nice to build 91 and 93 cars on an old 870c chassis untill the proper 91-93 chassis becomes available.

Although the 870c and Works chassis are the same length, the mounting holes for the motor mount and rear bulkhead are further forward on the 870c relative to the Works. The rear belt is the same length, but the front belt on the 870c is shorter, unless you use a tensioner to pick up the slack.

Ok, thanks! Working from my initial measurements I was having trouble deciding if I had measured incorrectly, or if the works chassis did indeed have just a slight difference in length between front and middle bulkheads. The difference between works and 870c is minimal,, easily a small enough amount that it could have been a mistake on my part.

Its nice that the early pre 94 cars are so interchangeable.
