TRX1: my 2015 project

Finally got my TRX1 out of a french forum.
It was a racer back in the early nineties, in Paris area league. The previous owner bought it as a used car about 1994, and tried to make it run again at home lately (his video here):

So here it is, entering his new garage:

some more detailed pictures and analysis in a near future...

Excellent. Looks like an A&L Interceptor body. Going to be a nice project.

Yes, it is a great pleasure for me to be able to work on that car so many years after... I have raced 2 years and a half with a TRX1.
This car is not so usual nowadays, so it was hard to find a complete car at a quite low price (80€ delivered).

Regarding the body, I recieved 3 like this (same shape, paint scheme and used condition) and don't know what it is. I did not know that A&L produced bodies.
Please let me present you some more images of the situation right now.

General views without the body:

it is a quite used car, but the chassis has still a good stifness.
First status: got A&L steering, kyosho modern type rear wheels, no front bumper, paint everywhere ;), some home tuned adaptations and parts...

No front bumper, but a graphite front brace.
broken body support.
Various rod ends, originals and shumacher ones I think.
Optionnal turnbuckles: Lunsford ?
I still like A&L steering with bearings.
Original wheels and shocks.
a lot of mecanical clearance on every parts.

The rear side has got quite modifications:
- 'spacial' speedo support on what should be the rear battery rack.
- hard plastic wing, a classical hop up at this time
- unknown turnbuckle
- schum ball studs
- the slipper is not the original
- dust cover fixing bracket is bent, but no dust cover
- black and white parts
- HPI main gear
- still paint present quite everywhere

Need time now for disassembly and source new parts.

Slipper looks like a PowerClutch by A&L.

NB: not necessary to unscrew the nut to put off the gear.

Any idea who painted that body?

The style of drips look familiar. I painted some for Trx-1 bodies like that many, many, many, years ago..
It was my drip phase, but I painted a lot of them back then.

Nice find!!

I have 3 bodies with this paint scheme, but all in bad shape.
The signature tells: ' G.Booker paint '.

regarding suspension axles, I found 2 references.
On the manual and exploded view, I see part ref 1939.
On different web sites shops, I find also part ref 2739.

are both the same?

Hello,

According to my records / research: 1939 contains the following and is designated as LSII (Blue Eagle Long Suspension) and subsequently SRT (with front inner pin brace) compatible:
2ea 24X3mm pins
4ea 31.5X3mm pins
2ea 40X3mm pins
2ea 48X3mm pins
10ea 3mm e-clips

While 2739 is designated as being TRX-1 compatible and includes the following:
48mm Rear inner hinge pin (2)
31.5mm Front and rear outer hinge pin (4)
39mm Front inner hinge pin (2)
23mm Pins ("king pins") for the steering blocks (or "knuckle arms") (2)
3mm E-clips (20)

So it's not so clear. However, they are not the same.

You might know more about it than I do:

Check this out:http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=34653&p=381739&hilit=hinge+pins#p381739

Pretty sure the 1939 has been amended to include the longer front inner pin to accommodate the carbon fiber brace that you have. Anyway, measure your pins against the specs above.

Maybe this helps?

Regards,

Mark

EDIT: Both will work but the newer versions of 1939 include the longer front inner pin to accept the cross brace. I think.

thank you for the link ;) !!! I didn't remember these words here on the eagle LS...

So I confirm that with the 1939 set of the eagle LS (same front arms), the axle fit just well the front arms. No more space for a front brace.
If I check the axle I have actually on my TRX1, I see that the length is equal to the one I used on the truck. To fit the front brace, the previous owner made a rework on the arms. I would not want to do this rework.

2 solutions:
- not to use a front brace
- to have a longer hinge pin.

If I have a look on your explanations, 1939 should be longer...
I also confirm that on the TRX1 exploded view, 1939 seems to be the stock set, it means with no front brace.

!!!!! writing these words, I check also the parts list, and I see that 1939 is stock, but that 2739 is a stainless steel hop up...
Finaly, if there were a change in the hinge pin length of the product (keeping same ref), it is quite hazardous to find the right axles.

I am quite disappointed at this moment....
