2.25 Stealth or 2.65 RPM?

I'm looking for opinions on which tranny would work best for my re-re World's car this spring. My local track isn't huge and somewhat technical, but I've heard the owner will be making it larger this season. It's a fiarly high-traction track with some bumpy sections. Many of the drivers run green Barcodes and that's what I have ready.

I'm planning to run either a 13.5 or 17.5 brushless combo if money permits. But I might end up using a 27T stock or 13-15T mod brushed motor and Tekin G-10 esc or Hara Twister.

I would also have to swap the new-style slipper for the original one when using the 2.65 topshaft, so would it still hold up to the above-mentioned motors?

i would bet the stock slipper would be fine. only problem I've heard is that with the 2.65, you tend to wear out the top gear and idler due to being a smaller top gear with more agressive tooth profile(can't avoid it going to small gears). so longevity would be something to consider. if you have like 5 topshafts ready to use, sure, go for it.

otherwise, you should be able to gear the 2.25 I would think.

I actually grenaded a 2.65 a while ago, but I think it was faulty diff rings because other members had similar problems. :x That's why I'm hesitant to try another one.

I'm no gearing expert either, so any help with that would also be appreciated.

Another benefit of me switching to the older slipper is gear choices because I have several that fit. But I'd have to buy new spurs for the new slipper setup because I only have the one included with the kit so far.

manual for the worlds car shows a 28 or 30 tooth pinion for 13.5 or 17.5 brushless motor, so I'd say start there. if sticking to a low wind brushed mod,say at 15t, I'd start at 18 tooth pinion and work down depending on wind.(lower turn, lower pinion)

I would stay with the 2.25 for parts avail, and if you are running a blinky 17.5, you can really gear them up. The 2.65 is in the wrong direction you'd want to gear a 17.5.

Stock 2.25 is perfect. If you are racing use the vts slipper.

+1 for the 2.25 but if you really want to go with an RPM for a 17.5T then go with a 1.96.

Looks like I'll stick with the trusty ol' 2.25. :D

I do have an RPM 1.96 conversion but it's reserved for a shelfer build.
