Something I've always wanted to try.... the DIY approach  Not shown, but I hear red Rit, is the key to gold

Didn't Jake or somebody else on here try that? I seem to remember it worked alright, but that the anno came off pretty easily...maybe only good for a shelfer.

I know Reggie had great results with black... but a gold colour, will be trial and error.

the anodizing part is the easier step. The dye that you need is non-organic and expensive, its got to be the right type so it has an even layer and UV hardened. Using something like RIT or food color dye will fade quite easily and not as concentrated as the real stuff.

if you can buy dye from caswell or something like that, you would likely have a good outcome provided your anodizing bath was set up correctly.

my biggest thing is i would like to see someones re anno job in light gold and use their source. made a couple calls and they all say a light gold is kinda hard to do since when it gets sealed it looses a little color and if not the right color would need to be stripped and done again and each time the metal gets thinner. just hate to get the pan re annoed and not be the right gold kinda a crap shoot :? also whats the best way to get this pan 100% clean since their are still some small parts with paint. is brillo and lacquer to harsh? will is scratch the pan to hell?

First off, ask about "champagne" not gold. To most people gold is more orange. The early cars were not (in anodizing colors) gold, they were champagne

Second... The only.... ONLY person I would trust to get the color right is the guy that Askbob uses. Period
