RC10 B1.5 - #5

As if i really need another one of these, here's another one.
The starting platform....
I got the tub shortened and cut down the nose plate. There are a couple unfortunate holes in the tub. Two that were drilled to mount the servo a bit too far back, which wouldn't be a huge deal if they were straight. And then there's one in the tub side for the servo horn.
I don't have anything fancy planned for this. Basically just gonna build a used parts runner. If I make it too nice it will never get used.

You know you can't help make it too nice!

If I can refrain from getting it re-ano'd I'll be in good shape.

I couldn't do that to him, he needs #5 to be an actual runner

can't let him fall off the wagon this early in!

Definitely make it a runner!
I have been moving away from shelfers and toward runners over the last couple years - it's much more fun!

You don't have a runner B1.5 yet?

Just curious what did it cost to have those parts anodized purple? I got quoted $90 to do a chassis, nose plate, motor plate and tubes.... Or $150 for piano black.

Well, #1 will never be run. #2 was supposed to be a modernized racer, and was built as such. Still need to do a couple things to it. #3 is the purple one, and other than the custom rear bulkhead jwscab made for it, I have made no progress on it because I was waiting for a custom pair of front arms. Those are made now and should be here in the next week or so. #4 is going to be a runner, but I'm still working on getting the parts on the back to play nice with one another and I'm still up in the air about the direction of the front end.
This one should be pretty straight forward and actually get done in a reasonable time frame.

$20, but I was in the position of knowing a guy that knew a guy.......

If the servo holes in my tub were like that I'd be happy.

I haven't had much time these days for tinkering with r/c's. But this morning I sat down and fabbed up a kydex rear body mount. On this car, since I'm not planning anything extravagant (custom bulkheads and such), I decided to run the shock tower on the front side of the stock bulkhead with 1/8" spacers. Will probably need another 1/16" but it's a start. Shocks will be mounted on the backside of tower.
On my 1st and 2nd B1.5's i mounted a rear 10t body mount to the tower to attach the body. With the tower so far front that was not gonna be an option. So this 1/8" kydex serves 2 purposes: holds a front 10t body mount, and fills the void between the bulkhead an trans case.

Made so headway on this one. It's a roller now. I still have to grab a front bumper and a pair of wide front axles, then figure out what i want to do about a battery box.
