Hi, has anyone encountered this problem? I was running a hobbywing ezrun 35A esc with a 13T motor. It ran ok geared at 94/20 if a bit slow. I then tried 94/22 and at the first corner a loud buzzing sound told me my spur was toast. Found out about the layshaft problem after taking the gear cover off. I then put the layshaft back plus new spur. Same thing happened. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Sounds like you might be missing one of the A401 1.5mm pins.... slipper layshaft should have two, one in the layshaft belt pulley, and between the pulley and the slipper. if you have both, and all the various spacers, you should be set....
Of course, that's IF I read your problem correctly

Hi Alex, Thanks for you your suggestion. I went and took the tranny apart but found both pins. After comparing pdf manuals of the boss cat and the cougar 2, I found the culprit. A missing spacer present in the 2wd but as a washer in the 4wd. I recall putting the gearbox together the first time too late at night with too many fingers of rum in me. A definite DOH! moment.

If nothing else, great news to find the solution to your problem! Now get it fixed, then celebrate with a couple of fists of rum

Fixed as soon as I located the problem. But now need to find new gear guard, old one melted from where the spur contacted. Do you know if anyone who is printing one of these?

Now that's a good idea.... as it doesn't have to be that strong, just completely cover the gears. Alas, I haven't heard of anyone doing one..... anybody out there looking for a quick project?
