Good deal thread

Not sure if anyone will be interested or not, but I thought maybe a thread with especially good deals on anything under the sun may be helpful. I was just going to alert evryone to this deal, but figured leaving it open to other deals made more sense.

I converted all of our bulbs to LEDs a couple of years ago, but I went ahead and bought 8 packs of these. They are on back order, but figure $2.50 a bulb is worth the wait. Ship to store is free if you live near Home Depot.

It's been 3 years or so on the first ones I ever installed and they're still going strong. The electrician that did my barn said the ones in there should last me 'til I die. The light source itself I guess has endless life, but the mechanism that transfers the electricity to it is what fails. He said if the company makes a good one it can basically last forever. Of course he may have just said that because I was paying $26 a bulb.

The Solar D771 is a great servo for the price. It's fast, strong, and reliable. I've used them in 3 different cars and I have a Solar D770 low profile servo in the Goldpan.

That's a good deal on those bulbs but soft white sucks. Daylights make everything so much clearer.

They each have their specific application. For example, the next time the incandescent bulbs in the lamps on either side of my bed burn out I'll be replacing them with soft white LED bulbs. Daylight ones would be way too harsh.

I'll tell you what really sucks, CFL bulbs! They aren't instant on, need to warm up in cold weather, and contain mercury so they can't be simply thrown away. I've been slowly replacing all of the outdoor CFL bulbs here with LED ones whenever I get the chance. It's been difficult though finding an LED bulb that I'm completely satisfied with. The different ones I've been interested in cost a lot so I can't by a bunch for testing like I'd like to.

We use halogen bulbs for most of our indoor lighting and are very happy overall in that respect.

Agree 100%! I bought all mine at different times to help offset the cost and didn't pay attention to brand or style figuring they were all the same. Not true at all! They all seem to have different characteristics. There is also one deep pocket fixture in my house that I have yet to find an LED that will fit properly. The only incandescent bulbs left on my property reside in that fixture. Drives me crazy for some reason. :x
