To drift car or not ?

I've got a like new sakura Xi touring car sitting here with full electronics and looking for something cheap to do. I can't decide between turning it into a drift car or running it as a GT style touring car. It's got a mod set up in it so it's quite quick.

Quite frankley I find current touring cars boring, both in looks and the way they drive. I'm not huge on drift cars either but like the detail and personal touches of them. I'm leaning towards drift as it has that "on edge" feel, something touring cars lack in my opinion.

I like this body and will likely buy one tomorrow, but need to figure out what sort of car to turn it into.

I've been wanting to try drifting for a while now myself. I'm not a huge fan of the style of car either, but I like the idea of a new driving challenge. I say go for it. You can always swap tires and gain back some traction later.

Out of curiosity, what's your opinion of the quality of the 3Racing kit? I've been curious about them, but the price almost seems too good to be true (or rather too cheap to be good).

Build a rear wheel drive drift car!
Personally I don't have much interest on touring cars. Drift cars are ok but RWD drift car in action really caught my attention...

I'd go drift if you are getting that body. I have actually been wanting one of those for myself too but want to do a Mad Max Interceptor themed paint job on it. 8)

The 3 racing Xi isn't a bad car for the money. Tack on a couple of upgrades and it's quite a good car. If you get the assembled version you'll need to go over it and fix a few things. If you get the kit version you'll need a crisp 2mm driver.

Rear wheel drive drift would be fun but from what I can see it's hard to get right. I like the realism of the 2wd cars. I feel like you'd have to throw money at a 2wd car till you got it sorted.

I think a JGTC type of car would be awesome, but to make it fun would need more tire, kind of like a 200mm pan car. I really like the pan car idea but don't want to buy another car so I'm still throwing ideas around.

I went drift, going old school pan car would have been my first choice but this was cheaper. I just need to play with wheel hex spacing to get it spot on.

I think I'm going to keep it simple and paint it either PS-16 Metallic blue with silver bumpers and window trim or PS-1 white with black bolt on's and window trim.

Sweet! I will be watching this one. You will have to let us know if you ave an issues with the all the bumpers and wheel flares.

This body looks pretty simple, no external bumpers and such. The flares also fit surprisingly well so credit to ABC. Gluing them on is a bit iffy in my opinion but shoo goo should do the trick easily enough.

Everyone seems to favor the white/black combo but I think the blue/silver would have way more depth.

Making progress slowly, there hasn't been much time to work on it this week. The paint is down though so it's time to start detailing the body. It looks a bit plain at the moment but the decals will help. Sitting the body on the chassis the wheels really make it pop, they balance out the blue.

My shoo goo lid cracked and dried out so I need to go buy some more :( I also have to re-do some of the light buckets, I used Tamiya acrylic clear paint to color the buckets but spraying silver over the top reacted, so I have to strip them and start over.

8) That really does look good in the Blue! Too bad the light buckets had a reaction to the clear. Should be an easy fix though.

x2. Simple, yet, satisfying. 8) No need for stickers, IMO.
