Good morning guys (Well at least on this part of the earth...)
I got this Kyosho Salute off of the local wanted (160 Euros) a few months back and now have the time to turn it into a Runner.
It needs a little cleaning up, lets get to work.

The gears are in pretty good shape.

Front brace is snapped... usual for an Optima. Pargu is my friend.

Anyone knows how good this ESC is? Its a KO Propo CXIIR
If any one has the manual and can scan it up on this thread, that would be great!
Now that its taken apart, I take on the job of polishing the aluminium for good measure, even though it will be a runner, It has to be a NICE looking one!!!
This thread will continue in a few days.

Looks like a decent project car. You can polish up the chain guide covers to make them clear again with some rubbing compound and then polishing compound. If they're particularly bad, you can wet-sand with 400, 600, 1000 grit sandpaper before the rubbing/polishing compounds. Maybe unnecessary but it's nice to have clear covers and see the chain inside.

On that long chain guide cover, there was still the protective film on it, once remove its like new. But I will polish the Aluminum body parts. I have ordered a Optima Pro body for it from TBG, I feel it looks nicer than the Salute. Just got some Loctite from the hardware store today, So I will be able to start building soon enough!

Lucky that the guide cover wasn't installed with the film-side down and the film end up in the gearbox...seen that a time or two before.

Optima Pro body can be used with optima upper plate and its battery place ?
Optima Pro one is differently organized

True, that would have been a shame...

Does not really matters, just need to cut out the lexan bottom body part in the place where the battery is placed.

Nice work on the polishing.

I hate that part, but it makes ALL the difference between just another resto and something that grabs the attention.

Nice result - good color choice
You can replace the tappered original screws in the topdeck mounts with the 3mm stainless You´ve been using in other places.

Hi tintin74! Nice restoration indeed! Im sure she handles great
Wanted to ask you if you got to source the manual of the original esc it came with (CX-IIr) I have recently got a hold of one but have not been able to set it up correctly. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!
Thanks
