3d printing some SRB stuff

I've been modeling and printing parts like crazy lately, a lot of which are SRB based. Thought you guys might like to see the progress. This first set is all the vintage style nylon bits. I'm also working on a rear mono rocker that works with the factory Scorcher cage, some 2 piece ball cups for nylon front arms, etc...

That's a GoSpeed chassis btw!

I did the final test assembly today and everything fits together well. Screw holes will self thread, or you can run a tap through them. It's all nice and tight. Soon I'll get one assembled for off road testing. The parts all seem durable, but I wouldn't run them on a modern track. Beefing them up would take away from the vintage look, so they are what they are. Any other newly designed stuff I do will be sure to take some abuse. It will be cool to dye a set too and see how it all comes out.

and some Mini Mag adapters!

Here are the ball cups I'm working on. Just need to do a little more test printing and get the tolerances right.

This is great to see. Thanks for taking the time to model this stuff up.

Did I read 4x4 conversion in there somewhere.

Very cool. they look like old RCH parts. I'd be curious to see how well they hold up.

Killer design work. I'd be all over these printed parts if they had the strength of molded nylon parts. Maybe someday soon....

Very nice cad work. What do you use to measure up the original parts? And which software do you use for the modeling?

I'm not saying anything...

I actually used Blender for a lot of this. I'm getting back into Solidworks, but still need some practice. Blender may seem a little unconventional, but I use it constantly for work so it's easy for me to precisely model parts in and then export an STL to print. It's worked well for me so far.

Out of curiosity I looked... the rear rockers would cost $142 to print in aluminum.

I should have cut more of these while I still had access to the waterjet-

I think I have enough left over parts to make one or two more sets. Maybe I'll throw one on this 3d printed car when I do a final assembly. It would be cool to see how many reproduced parts I could squeeze into this build.

For completion sake: print the tranny

Just asking. Would it be great the plates out of carbon.

A carbon chassis would look great with carbon axle tubes!

I think it would be cool- carbon chassis, carbon tubes, and dye the printed parts all a cool color.

I think maybe he meant the suspension cantilever parts too?
