one of those WTF moments...

Ok,
one of those moments I just had to share. First of all yeah, I know the mailbox is crapped out. My road commissioner hit it one day last winter with the plow truck and still am waiting for a replacement. Now, my story...I personally like the USPS over UPS, Fedex, etc. for shipping options but I just had too many things going thru my mind on this one. FIrst of all this is what I came home to find here one day lately from the post office. Seems that even though it was raining earlier on in the day my mailbox was full so this package just wasn't fitting in it. So, I think my first thought would be "HEY, plenty of room on top of the boxes and the rain will just wash the dust off the box!" After dealing with a ton of other crap and then this I carry the package inside where by the time I got up to the house where by the time I get there it actually opened up by itself since the adhesive doesn't seem to like some 'high quality H2O'. It kinda hits me at this point...the seller actually sent my $92 XX4 like this! Seems I got lucky since it only broke a few things like the rear shock tower and and a rear carrier plus coat any carbon metallic part with a nice layer of surface rust.

Will have my say with the USPS on friday when I send off a package to Canada but just haven't been able to keep it together long enuf to contact the seller yet. Seller on ebay is just a flea market/garage/estate sale flipper so they will really have no clue why I would be pissed. As far as those idiots out there that think putting something like this in a tight fitting box so it can't move around is 'good enuf' this might shed a little light to why its NOT good enuf. Trying to get pix of the car outta the package to send to the seller but my phone isn't co-operating tonight so I had to come on here and pitch this fit.

As for those that read through this thanx for letting me vent 8)

Rant over
Todd

Hi Guys,

I think the posties need retraining,

come on a $100 of parts strapped to the letter box for everyone to see.

I suppose I should be happy at least this time it's on the back of the letterbox.

Todd,

I don't understand, whats the problem it's only a toy car?

Cheers, Dave.

Here if the package doesn't fit in the mailbox, one of two things happens. They either bring it back to the post office, and leave a note to come pick it up, or they drive it up to the house. That's if whoever is delivering the mail that day is in a good mood, and it's not winter.

Then you have the ones that are happy to drive right up to your door to deliver....

lame shipping practices chees me off too. The worst one I had is when I received my Tamiya Hilux and the stick from the transmitter was punched through the window and part of the cab was broken.

I feel for you. USPS is almost impossible to make a claim with, which compounds the pain!

I recently received a Tamiya Brat from overseas with zero cushioning material. The claim process of Hong Kong to USPS is so complicated you wouldn't believe it.

I hope all works out.

Mark

Wow, I feel bad for you guys. One thing I've been fortunate with is sellers who are very careful with how they pack the item being sent. Not that I buy that much these days but in the past I've been very fortunate.

If you've ever dealt with Dave_LTO here, that guy is a MASTER packer.

Honestly, I couldn't blame the shipping companies for those 2 squashed packages...blame the shippers who did such shitty packing jobs. That's the whole point of proper packaging protection (enough P's there?).

I got this one today. Thankfully the box was much larger than the items inside.

thanx guys for helping me realize it wasn't all in my head 8) .

I see I'm not the only one with the same issues but still makes me a little gunshy to buy from some of these ebayers.

Marc, my issue with the shipping company is that they left it on top of the mail box either while it was raining that morning or when it was supposed to rain. True, forecasters can be wrong alot and get away with it but when they give you an 80% chance of rain I'm gonna lean towards its got a good possibility of it. Nearest house is a mile down the road after the turn off so package could of easily dissappeared off the top of the mailbox and no one would've been the wiser.

Yeah, the buggy pry fit snug in the box but when the box got wet it kinda formed to the buggy but know that the damage got done before it got wet or the parts would've pushed thru the box.

Normally like in lowgear's instance they bring it up to my door and leave it on the porch but we've gotten different carriers here lately with cutbacks in the little towns and they just don't care as much I guess. I usually leave a nice 'holiday bonus' for my carriers but this year scrooge just took over :| .

Just a little bit more information along this story. The mail box was already full with a plastic sealed 1st class package and a fist class parcel post so it leads me to believe there is no common sense in this carriers persona or that the USPS are lying about priority packages receive better treatment than first class packages. Either way I get to go to the post office tomorrow and at least get this off my chest with those somewhat involved.

Thanx again guys for letting me vent 8)

Todd
