My RC10 CE late restoration

I recently bought one of my best friend's RC10 from him as I had gotten a kick to restore RC's lately - I had only seen the car once when I was out at his parents place WAY back in the day and knew what it was but didn't care much as I was into on road cars and monster trucks.

So I paid $200 for it - came with the box, and no radio (Futaba pictured is the one I had waiting for this)

From a post on here I gather it is a late production run, stealth trans, plastic shock caps, Green springs, MSC, JR servo's, Stock motor. he was a basher not a racer so it's beat for sure but not broken so far..

The plan - full OE restoration of the chassis/trans, and a few tasteful modern/vintage upgrades as follows

Stock chassis (gold pan - gotta find a local anodizer)
Stock stealth trans
Stock shocks
Futaba S148 servo
Futaba 75mhz AM radio
Novak 410-M5 ESC - new Deans connector on batt, vintage deans on motor
Stock AE motor OR Trinity kinwald epic 27t motor I'm building (from NOS parts)
Stock bead lock 3 piece wheels
Pro-line M4 4 rib front tires
Pro-line M4 Square fuzzies rear tires
Protech body done in box art or close to it
Clean all the white parts to look new to save money on buying new one's

I bought a double "A" stamped chassis, which doesn't have the stealth holes drilled so I'll likely resell it.. other than that I bought -

Rubber sealed bearing kit
Repro decals
Original instructions/ catalog

Planning to buy -
Protech body
driver
5.5" HD wing
RE-RE gear cover
AE aluminum screw kit
Front and rear shock towers
Body mounts
2 battery cups
Shock hardware/ rod ends
Stealth idler/ dif gear/ ball dif parts
Nose brace tubes
New original steering setup
New turnbuckle kit
RPM white rod ends

Well finally got a correct (RE-RE) chassis, and a few other little parts for this and got started in on it! Hoping to have it done-ish by the weekend to break it in on a track semi local to me..

Pretty much done here - need to trim/paint the interior and I'm going to call it done..

RE-RE gold pan chassis
All original white parts except a battery cup/RPM rod ends/Steering rack
Fast Eddie Bearings
Futaba S148 servo
Futaba Magnum pistol grip 75mhz AM radio
RE-RE worlds turnbuckles
JConcepts retro RC10 tires on stock bead locks
Novak 410-M5 ESC
Team Associated Mr. Outlaw super stock motor (fastest stock AE motor - pulls wheelies like it should)
RE-RE body done in semi box art
White AE 2.2 wheels w/ Proline Electron's for running on the track
Also have a vintage 64p setup for it but it very slow with it, so I'm running the stock 81t spur, and the 23ish tooth pinion it had originally

Next to it is my RE-RE box art worlds RC10 that will get a spec AE 19t motor, AE 2.4 radio, and either a ARRMA/Novak ESC

Why the need for a new chassis? Just curious.

it had JB weld or something similar all over it, I chipped it off here about a week ago and it's in decent shape but for a resto would have needed re-anodized

I'm going to have that chassis powder coated and do a race/driver buggy with it as this one I don't really want to drive haha

Ya know, that pic above is just a very cool shot, with the various tools and all, which would make a neat background. It probably wasn't taken with much thought, but artistically it looks really nice. Background: I do photography.

Bringing this back up! Decided to take this from a shelfer to a racer! Going to be a few changes -

Swapped original rear tower back on for the extra top shock hole
Dynamite modern brushed ESC
Hitec HS645MG servo
Spektrum SR300 receiver
Jconcepts hazard 1.9/1.7 wheels
Jconcepts retro tires ^
Tamiya silver can 27t motor
Added my left over World's steering rack
Gotta get CVD's yet
Bought a new Robinson 78t spur gear
Lowered the body some
Adding a AE clear chassis protector sheet
Put an original very cut up battery cup in to fit a 2S lipo.. will post pic of that later!

Just ordered the wheels, motor, and spur gear. Ordered 2 10GT front bulk head braces as well..

One from the middle of the restoration
