Servos, Hitec vs. Savox.

Are Savox servos really worth the 2-3X price difference over a comparable Hitec?
Reason for asking is I was looking at a metal gear Hitec, and a MG Savox. The Hitec's specs outperformed the Savox by a sizable margin in all areas, like torque, and speed, yet that Savox was more than twice the price. Are you just paying for the name, like Venom batteries?

Would be good to know... I am going to need a servo pretty soon for a project and want a good one. I really like the Savox I run on my 44.3, but I didn't like the price, lol

I can't say for sure but the Savox servos I've been using have been fantastic. Zero issues with them.

I've heard this from someone else too, but $63-$99 is tough to swallow for a servo.

Have a few high dollar savox that came in a local 'lot' buy and they have been great. Zero issues. Have a few Hitec MG servos that are either really loud and slow and a few that just gave up the good fight but have had several good ones that lived a long and bashful life. So far I haven't heard anything bad from savox besides the price and don't think I could've validated the few I have at a new reatail price they come out at.
I'm thinkin that it kinda depends on what kinda life they are going to live. I picked up the local 'lot' for my 1/8 scale rc8be and rc8t to turn those bigass tires.

From what I have noticed at my local track, hitec aren't as good as the specs might lead you to believe but everyone that owns a savox has no complaints. Some circumstances will require the use of a glitch buster type thing with savox servos though they are only a few bucks well spent...

While I can't comment on Hitec specifically I CAN tell you the Savox servos in my cars have not had an easy life. They are pushed to the limit in sand, snow, dirt or whatever else I can drive a car in and look like this
I'm pretty merciless and the last time I was out in my car, the servo horn actually broke but servo was still working perfectly.
I use the low profile Savox as it fits nicely in almost any application.

That's probably the cheapest I've seen yet, at $59. Sheesh. Well, maybe next time I need one I'll look into the Savox servos.
What is the deal with the glitch thing? When spending $60+ on a servo it shouldn't have any glitches, you'd think.

Guess I'll stick with Savox
The one on my 44.3 is the servo's 2nd car and it has been flawless, lightening fast and more than enough torque, it's so good I never even think about it.

I bought 2 of those blue cased savox servos a while back to replace two others that were giving me issues and I couldnt be more happy. Its not the more high end ones that most of you guys get but ive had no issue. I dont mind turning a few milliseconds slower than you guys

I'll have to look up those blue cased ones, because all they sell locally are the expensive orange ones.
Edit: Seems they do make some metal geared ones comparable in price to the Hitecs I was looking at, around $37 or so.

Savox servos are notorious for needing more power than any others. Using a Savox servo with especially a Spektrum receiver is a good way to get glitching as the servo sucks so much power the receiver switches off, then takes a few seconds to come back to life and find the transmitter again.

Yup, astonishing specs can have their drawbacks, and it would be nice if servo manufacturers could all start stating current draw. i've seen some chinese servos with great numbers, brushless and all that, but a 3A current draw. Some ESC's only supply 1 or 2A to the receiver, so it pays to match up components appropriately. (I think some HV servos can be wired straight to a 2s lipo to bypass the BEC?) I don't heli, but I understand some folks have had problems (crashes) wiring up a bunch of high performance digi servos and drawing more than the BEC can supply.

If that's really the case, with the glitching thing, I may just stick with Hitec servos.

The glitch buster is a good thing to have for really hot motors along with power hungry digital servos... Around six or seven bucks for one last time I checked
