Hey guys. So I have amassed enough parts to build myself an SRT from scratch with a few mods here and there. See the "all parts" picture below:

Finished up my first Pro-ball differential last night!

And now the transmission is just awaiting bearings from AVID RC

Stay tuned for more!

Very cool!
That bolt kit don't fit the 2mm chassis and the gearbox screws need to be shortened also

Got the transmission finished up. Had to grind down a few of the screws that came with the RC Screwz set which was a pain, but it looks pretty good all together now.

Minor update. Got the gearbox and rear a-arms mounted up. Had to grind down the rear mount on the arms a little bit so they would move freely. Sorry for the dark pics.

Looking good. I like the blue motor plate. Still has some Blue Eagle "feathers". Man that's corny. And did you say you were gonna put a NOS system in it?!

What rod ends you got there?

Mark

Do you have the motor guard rear bumper piece? It really ties it all together as far as strength goes. Just that tranny plate is pretty flimsy but you know this.

Haha I'll give you the feathers joke. Rod ends are stock ones from the new aluminum links. They are one of the only "new" parts that I'm using. And yes, the motor guard made it on there. It was added before I attached the gearbox to the chassis.

Where did you find the motor plate, guard, and gearbox case? I haven't had any luck on ebay, lately... I missed out on the gearbox case last week. Congrats on the build! I'm hoping to do the same thing!

I was actually able to find that in the BST on this site. Lots of vintage guys on here that are very helpful.

Got the front end together. She is coming together nicely!

Thanks for the reply! I've been taking too long gaining access to the BST section.. Build looks great!

So most of the assembly is complete. Now just need to pick out some power and a speed control, and do final tweaks. Nevermind the messy workspace lol

Nice build!
I've used those rear rpm arms and they are like rubber. Flex too much IMO

Got the tires mounted up and mocked up a T3 body. Looks like it will fit pretty well!

Coming together for sure. I noticed the rear tower. When I put the fibrelyte towers on my TRX3, the rear tower was thicker than stock and it "sandwich bends" the rear end of the chassis down just slightly. I had to shave some material from the back of the battery box mount at the rear tower. Not sure what tower you have there or whatever but just a heads up. Never had an SRT so not sure on stock tower thicknesses.

AE body on a Traxxas!? I love it.

Here's the finished product. Found a Nitro Sport body that didn't have the venting cut out so I was able to mount it up. Looks much better than the T3 body. Went with a box-inspired paint job. Looks decent, but still had some bleeding issues.
