I don't have the schedule or time to race these days but enjoy a random day when I have off work to go during the week to turn open laps every few months at best. It is a big commitment wise though as the track is an hour away and not the the most relaxing drive to get there. And with limited time like everyone I want to maximize my laps when I get there.

As such I've decided I want something that is easy to get parts for when I am there. I usually bring an extra warehouse of vintage pars but that is getting old. I want to bring one small tackle box and make what is already a full day commitment easier.

Track is small clay track and typical Hobbytown supporting Traxxas, Losi and Associated. I definitely lean towards my Losi but open to ideas.

My current thinking is a 22T. The truggy's are easier to drive than buggy ( I think from the olden days?) and inline with my easy fun day principle but these new 22's seem very complex and finicky from what I read and I don't have tons of time to set up or testing sessions. Want to throw on track and go recognizing I won't set a lap record but don't care.

I even considered a Traxxas Slash or something, but well, you know....

I have an RC10 worlds re release car that would probably work well but again, if it breaks I won't have the parts support there.

So, criteria, easy set up, reliable, parts easy and something that makes an average driver look a hero. Goal, is to arrive, spend no more than 10 minutes figuring out a decent tire for the day and just drive. What should it be?

From what i hear. The losi take a bit more setting up than the Associated. But both are great once dialed in. My T%M was great pretty much out of the box. just was lacking on some power and driving skill.

Use your worlds car and just order some parts you know you will need like arms, turnbuckles, rod ends, front chassis supports, and shock rebuild kits with oil. Or pick up a Rc10t4. It uses a lot of parts still carried over in todays cars and you can get one used for 50$ RTR. It's a truck so it should handle the little crashes better then a buggy. And it's design is still very competitive.

Both good ideas leading to more ?'s of course. Is the Losi equivalent to the T4 at this point the older XXX SCT? Could I make my Worlds car a RC10T with arms and wheels, sorry I am lacking in my AE knowledge.

B5M. No experience with them, but I here they are super easy to drive and you would have your parts support.

I use the Associated B4 for exactly this. I don't race, but want a fast and fun car for practice days. Once the B5 came out, prices of B4's have dropped like a rock, making it really cheap to pick up. Parts are still readily available as well. In our 4 friend circle of 'racers', 3 have B4's.

Wow, a quick check of Ebay and those are getting cheap. Might be enough to move this Losi biased guy that way.

Trying something different than Vintage and now you're pulling me back in! Must resist.

I have a T4, B44 and a B5M. All of them take so much more abuse than the RC10. They are also much easier to drive and setup than the RC10.

But it could be argued they aren't as much fun because they lack a certain 'character'

I notice many of those on ebay say for T2? Same thing I presume and also since the worlds did not come with DogBones I think I would need some universals or CV's? Part #? By my estimates I seem to be about $80 to go that route.

Believe me I get it, I have a fleet of vintage cars I could take. I just picture myself out there with a broken truck mad I don't have a modern one and my day is not ended. I have a very nice LXT with all RPM items in the works that in theory will be very strong for a 20 something yr. old truggy, but as you note, not quite as easy or strong as something newer.

Just recently upgraded from a b4(+8mm) to a B5m Factory Light. After I broke my steering rack twice on the B4 and bought my tracks last one I thought it was time to upgrade to a B5m.

You will feel like you are cheating when driving the B5m. Handles awesome out of the box!

Having said that the 22 3.0 is very fast at my local track. no idea how much work it takes to get them to that point though.

Set up could be a concern. Again not my goal to set records, just show up on a random day work on driving and enjoy myself. It's been a few years but last I did that it was with a XXX sct rtr right out of the box and it shocked me how good it was. I see now they offer it in brushless for $349. It's dated compared to 22 at this point but for my intended purpose it may not matter.

EBAY got a hold of me last night and an impulse buy was made. A nice upgraded used 22T 2.0 Mid motor is on the way. Thanks for all the support.
