Rebuild or "part out"?

I got this RC10 from a friend. It was in very dirty condition when I got it although it all seemed to be there. I thought that I would rebuild it and make a runner out of it. I tore the 6 gear transmission apart and found that it needed to be completely rebuilt so I did adding all new bearings in place of the bushings. When I started on the chassis I tore it all apart and started cleaning up the parts. To my surprise the parts are all in very nice "white" condition. I haven't started to put it all back together yet. I got to wondering.....The chassis has a chunk cut out of it and the underside is scratched up..so it could never be a "shelf queen". It almost seems like a waste to put real nice parts on an old beat up chassis. Would I be better off "parting out" the parts so someone else who needs them could complete there "shelf queen" or going ahead and putting it back together and just playing with it. I know that no one can answer this but me but I just thought that I would share my thoughts. Has anyone else come to this dilemma before?
Thanks,

Photo is as I received it...before any work.

If it cleaned up nice...it's nice. Chassis appear from time to time, as do beater cars with ugly but useable plastic.
If you want to run it, better with a scarred up chassis. Try not to slam into curbs, etc. to save the arms and such. Will you be enjoying the joys (frustration?) of the resistor speed control? Everyone needs to go there at least once.

LOL... Oh no....that was the first thing to come off. Wanna buy it? LOL
Actually that is the other part of this equasion...In order to run it I will have to put even more money into it..ESC...motor...but I'm sure that everyone on this board has been there..done that!

I noticed that the whole resistor setup is installed backwards...
No, I don't want to buy it, but
they are getting harder to find in nice shape. One day you will build a nice shelfer and may want that stuff. It's definitely era correct, remember an ESC was almost the same as the price of the car back in the day.

I also see it's an "orange" gold chassis and noseplate. A shame there's that big slice out of the chassis. That's a seemingly hard to find shade of gold.
