Collectability/rarity
Collectability/rarity
What would be your list of rc10's (buggy's only, no trucks, no carpet racers) in order from most sought after to least sought after? I'm talking plain gold pan, graphite, worlds, etc. Just looking for opinions.
RC's are like ****'s... everyone has one... some are just more torn up then others.

It should be interesting to see what the current feelings are.

Re: Collectability/rarity
i always wanted a RPM car, and a Hot Trick car, got both of them done finally pretty much with the exception of a few small parts. Always wanted a Box Art Gold Pan Prototype Type Car too, only thing im missing from that is a gold chassis, nose plate, and 4 shocks, and a set of rear tires and rims. but i have every other peice NIP
Re: Collectability/rarity
Okay looking at the link makes me wish I said "leave out the 'brand new in box' replies".
Yes, everyone would like a shrinkwrapped from the factory anything. But it's over 20 years since they came out and I (and probably a few others) don't have that kind of cash.
So starting now, "New in box" doesn't count.

Re: Collectability/rarity
i don't care what anyone else says, but this is the rarest rc10 (from an ae kit) imo.
and the best part.......................you had no idea you were getting it until you opened the box.

Re: Collectability/rarity
Definitely one of the seven original RC10 prototypes hand made by Curtis Hosting. Hands down…
I also have always loved the “Stealth II” from Masamis ’91 worlds.

Re: Collectability/rarity
ya, it's the worlds graphite chassis, based on masami's 89 worlds winning rc10. they came in some of the last graphite team car kits, instead of the regular graphite chassis.Badillac wrote:Scr8p, is that cuz of the way it's cut?

Re: Collectability/rarity
I was actually going to make a post like this last week about cars in general and then got sidetracked. Knowing the type of stuff I actually collect I went a little big. Here's mine:
-Roger Curtis' (maybe it was Gene's car actually) prototype RC10 with the one piece chassis and the hand machined parts
-Masami's Stealth car- Shame on all of you for not listing this one!
- One of the "preproduction" RC10's (#1,2,3,4,or 5) that were given to AE people before the car was released- Likewise, the odds of even SNIFFING one of these are slim to none.
-Jay Halsey's RC10 that won ROAR Nats- I must talk to Jay on a monthly basis and it's never even DAWNED on me to ask him about this car.
-Cliff Letts "RC10ST" Moo truck from 8/91 RCCA. Although at that point, it had only won FL Winterchamps but it was the first time the RC10T had
been shown to the public- I got this car a couple years ago and it is the my second favorite thing in my collection behind my Masami Hirosaka signed KO Propo jacket I just got recently.
- Matt Francis' B2- To me this car reinstated AE as the top dog in offroad. Its win worlds title win showed that AE could solidly compete with Losi after taking somewhat of a beating in those times. The team car/worlds cars were worthy in my opinion but at that time had begun to become a little dated against the Pro SE's and XX buggies... the B2 and especially Francis' win resurrected AE as the top of the heap.
- The box art/ad art RC10... i've actually held this car its now on display (or going to be soon) in AE's showroom in their new office. Likelyhood of getting this one in my shop... NIP.
- The box art RC10T. I have the one that was used for trade show displays and was Cliff's production sample... but again, this one's on display i believe.
- Cable drive 4-10 Legend- I'm surpirsed more peole aren't after these things... i've NEVER seen one on Ebay... EVER.
- Kinwalds Worlds car... I'm not sure why but this one is much lower on my list then you'd think for some reason. I like Brian... he's a nice guy and all but for some reason in my mind he was more of a phenom during his time at Losi or at very least in the mid 90's which was a period in r/c thats of lesser interested to me I guess.
Guess thats about it.. hope you all enjoyed learning a little bit (or not learning... know it all's) about some of these cars.

answer is pretty simple:Erich Reichert wrote: - Cable drive 4-10 Legend- I'm surprised more peole aren't after these things... .
I would personally love to have one... when there's hope, there's life I guess...Erich Reichert wrote:i've NEVER seen one on Ebay... EVER

Re: Collectability/rarity
First post, woo hoo!
How collectable/rare are these two? First up is the RC10 with all blue metal parts, instead of the standard gold or black.... have seen blue bits before, but never a whole one, down to even the shocks..... shame someone cut a 1/2 square inch out of one chassis side
Second is a complete RPM RC10 chassis..... not just RPM bits added, but the whole kit.... unfortunately, this one is dirty dirty dirty... and someone was nice enough to extend the battery area to probably mount a 7-cell pack..... still, looks very interesting!
These currently reside in my RC10 graveyard, beside two graphite chassis RC10s (one 6-gear, one Stealth), a new in box Tekin chassis kit (that I MUST build some day...), a whole swag of B2s in various states of disrepair, and some onroad pan cars.... but I am more a Schumacher person

I think the bottom one may have been re-anodized. I have one of the blue powder coat AE chassis and it's a very different color. If all my images weren't offline I'd show you a piccy
