What motor/ESC combo for re-re's?

I am building some Kyosho re-releases and wish to equip them with identical motor/ESCs. I am thinking a ~2500kv motor and a hobbywing 60A ESC.

Like this:

Also, it seems it's cheaper to not choose a combo.

ESC:

What do YOU suggest for the 1/10 car in my signature? I am not looking for these to scream, fly, smash, and crash. :D

Although it might be a tad more power than 2500 kV, I put this affordable combo in my OptiMutt car (mid-motored Optima Mid converted to RWD), it's very smooth-running. 12T 3300 kV, 60A ESC, program card. I only had to reduce the "punch" to a level that felt comfortable to me.

Wow thanks! I will definitely consider this.

Any other cheap options?

This Turnigy TrackStar 13.5T combo also looks nice. I'll be putting some of these components in my Lucas Agitator project eventually.

I've heard good things about the trackstar combos

I'd love my Hobbywing Justock ESC and A Main Eco-Power 17.5

Cost me just under $100 and it's a great race system

For now i went with a Aurora 14-2 brushed and a castle sidewinder 3. It is insane lol. The manual calls for a 30 turn. I used castle link to dial it down.

I ordered one of these we will see how it goes. :-)

Thank you everyone!

Nice price. You might find they put really cheap fans on those el-cheapo knock-offs...I put a Bullistorm ESC in Barney that had an annoyingly loud, whiny fan, and furthermore, the fan blades actually brushed across the top of the heatsink. I picked up a better Novak fan to replace it, which cost about $15. They cheap out on the fans. :)

Ill be curious how that one works, not every car needs a top set up for bashing around for a few minutes in my mind.

Pretty cool controller. If it works then it's already a step ahead of the vxl-3s.

Still waiting on the motors and ESC those are likely boat and this was air.

Program card looks like it has all the most basic functions. Just for comparison, here are the programmable functions of the Leopard Toro; the Turnigy was almost identical. The Bullistorm I mentioned earlier had even a few more options.

I wish they offered these things un-anodized. It sucks to have to live with a bright blue or orange motor can hanging out the back of your buggy if your particular chosen color scheme doesn't jibe with it. (I realize most modern cars have mid-mounted motors hidden by the body, but still...)

I ordered a Hobbywing XERUN Justock Zero Spec 17.5 combo at Amain Hobbies for $94.99. I should have waited on the Black Friday sale because they marked it down to $80.74!!!  The motor is rated at 2100kV, so it should be tame in my World's car.

It should be delivered today, so I will let you know how it performs.

How did you like this motor? XERUNS justock motors are on sale for under $50 with a $5 off coupon. Seems too good to not buy. How'd you like it? Mine would be going in a classic re re.

Sorry GRSparty, I haven't logged in in a while. I really like the XERUN motors. They have been updated from the G1 to the G2 version, and they run really cool with the new billet aluminum motor cans. The 17.5T is kind of slow for my liking, but probably good for stock class racing. Plus, I'm running a blinky esc with no timing. I'll probably upgrade to a 10.5T soon, once I settle into my new job and have more time for rc.
