I got this World's Car when I was 14. I was working at the local hobby shop at the time and when it came out I had to have it. I drove it a LOT. Almost daily for years. Then when I went off to college it got stuck in the closet. Now over 15 years later I, like many others, have dug it out of my old closet at my parents house and want to modernize it. I was surprised one of the batteries still held a charge, though only for about 4 minutes. I've been playing with it for a few days and my 2 year old daughter absolutely LOVES seeing it fly up and down the street. I thought about keeping it all old school but the range of the Airtronics CS2P just isn't what I want and if I plan on keeping it for another 20 years I may as well keep up with the times and go LiPo and Brushless.

So I know I need a new Radio and receiver, ESC, Motor, and Battery. Is there anything else I should upgrade? From what I've read, the Stealth Transmission should be fine for all this and I still have some brand new tires so I should be good there for a while. I was curious about all the nylon pieces, I've seen new options in I think Titanium or Aluminum, should I change all that too?

I've read most of the threads about this but most of it seems several years old. I did get ideas for most of what I think I will need to do get it up to par but any suggestions are GREATLY appreciated.

Here is what she looks like right now, dirty and needs some love but all original, for now, an with the box and all te paperwork, not pictured.

No clue on batteries, seems to be a lot of options, 2S is what I think I should go with.

i have a couple of the flysky gt3bs i use in my crawlers. fantastic radio for the price and they really have alot of features if you hack the software, but i can feel a definite difference in the resolution feel between my flysky and my spektrum or futaba radios. i still use my spektrum for fast stuff.

I thought about getting a better radio but this is just going to be for running up and down the street and in the backyard. If I ever do get into any racing, not that there is around here, I'll just upgrade.

the gt3b is a fine radio i was just being nitpicky. especially when you factor in the price and receivers that are under 10 bucks. if i had to keep one over the other the dx4 would be gone.

i like the speedpassion stuff, which i think is related to the hobbywing stuff or at least sold by the same sellers, which leads me to assume so.

The cheap receivers are a big plus. My dad has an older RC10, probably from 89-90 that has been stripped down sitting in the box for just as long so I can get an extra receiver and run both cars.

Anyone tried this battery? Has good reviews.

Ahh man, the Airtronics XL-2P was my favorite radio for YEARS. Still have two of them.

Yeah I love this CS2P. I'll find some use for it.

I just went up to my parents and found a few bags of RC10 stuff but didn't find my dad's old gold pan. My mom is on the hunt. I did find an HPI Nissan Skyline Pennzoil on road car that I forgot I had. It was the only RC car I could find at the time that had a body for a 2000 Civic Si, which is what I drove at the time and still have. Found that body too. I could gut that and use the CS2P at 2.4 gHz in that!

I got in all the parts. When I try to charge the battery, the charger says "Connection Break" I charged some old NiCads with it so I'm pretty sure it's not the charger. I just need to find a hobby shop nearby and see if I can try the batteries on another charger before I get them swapped out. Oh the joys of building. I did manage to get the car completely torn down, cleaned, put (mostly) back together. I need to do something about wheels and tires going forward but I have plenty of old ones to use for the time being.

Ready to start. Front end. Front end attached. Transmission attached. Rear end attached. Shocks attached. Wheels attached. Need to replace the tires before I take her out. Now I just need to install the motor, ESC and servo. Then figure out the battery thing.

Finally figured out that I needed to have BOTH outputs from the charger connected to the battery. All is well. Got the motor and ESC installed. The airtronics servo that I had wouldn't work so I found a Futaba that works great. Te only problem is that the tabs were cut off so I had to hot glue it until I get a new case and rebuild the servo.

Not only is the distance improved from the 2.4 gHz radio, but these new motors and batteries make this thing fly! I had to turn down the timing in the ESC all the way just to control it until I get used to it. It even works well in the grass but I think I'll build an RC10T next for that.

I re did my dads old a stamp a few years back. Did the stealth trans swap brushless motor lipo battery. Just ran out of tires and lucky they did a re release and made a axle swap kit so newer rims and tires fit just got that done a day ago. I love this little buggy . Good luck
