I'm quite lucky that the company I work at view use of their 3D printer as advantageous; If the unit is being used it stays serviceable for longer so they don't mind the odd homer here and there.

As a result I can knock out some small components every now and then. Anyone got any good suggestions on what I could make? Be a shame to not use it...

LOL rather selfishly I was thinking of parts for my RC10 Team car...

I don't believe there is an rc10 part out there that isn't already available between shapeways and i- materialize. Can't think of anything anyway. Not to mention, with the re-released parts, the only thing really missing is white sidetrack front arms....... From AE anyway.

Doesn't mean you can't do your own.

Just print a set of everything, and have a completely 3D printed buggy. No one has done a build like that yet.

Ok, I'll have a think. I made a NACA duct for my last body shell and bonded it to the lexan to get cool air to the ESC. It was no way going to be functional at those low airspeeds but it was an interesting little project.

Everything is better with NACA ducts.

you could think of more cosmetic things. like some kinda wire holder for the motor wires similar to what rpm did on their bulkheads or things like that.

-little tapered 'snap plugs' that snap into all the unused holes in the bottom of the chassis would be kind of neat.

-a quick release esc/rx mount thats designed to be used in multiple cars for people who have alot of rigs that they want to share the esc/rx with.

-a cage to emulate the halsey trophy girl car.

Hoopty (if I may call you that), thats some awesome ideas right there! I like the idea of something to tidy up the back end, especially as I don't run with the lexan that goes over the rear shock tower (I find it a bit fussy). I've not seen the cage you mention but I'll be looking shortly, I think I know the publicity shot you mean but I'll investigate. The little bungs for the underside are a nice plan too; maybe even a little clip on skid plate.

I have a 3D printer and plugs for the bottom holes sounds like a great idea! Unfortunately I have no skills designing.

What about a complete lower chassis protector? Or would it be impractical to print something so thin?

5 or 6 layers should work.

Ohhh! If you did a chassis protector, that came up the sides a bit, I'd use it on my fiberglass chassis car.
