"In a pinch" or "On a budget" parts repairs...

As I am sitting in the shop tearing down some of my recent parts car purchases I stumbled onto a few parts that made me smile and think back to a time when we were younger, on a budget, and maybe not the most talented of mechanics just yet but had plenty of time and curiosity on our hands to make do with what we had. Or, our parents just flat out said "no" as we begged them to take us to the hobby shop
At any rate, I thought you guys would get a kick out of the pictures...

Been there done that!
One does it for many reasons, be it a trail/track fix until you can get back to a shop, to actual improvement over the stock version. Whatever the reason, the feeling of fixing something, whether temporary or permanently, is almost as good as getting to run what you brung.

The car I'm trying to fix now is all junk repairs. I was a little hard on it as a kid.
One of the front turnbuckles is replaced with a piece of wire and there was a pound of electrical tape on it.

This really needs to be a sticky, where everyone can post their botched parts or breakages. Kinda like "just rolled into the shop" on Reddit.
