The stock big bear rims have a huge lip on them, which is quite odd. The stock tires make up for this by having a very deep inset where the lip goes. I don't know if the lunch box tires are the same or not. The Wild Willy tires looked just fine, except for that lip that stuck way out. Once you cut the lip off they look 100% normal. I'd wager the LunchBox tires are different, because mine never looked stretched at all. I was told to use those tires too, but lucky for me I already had a re-re Wild Willy, and was able to check fitment before laying out the cash. I'd use those for anyone looking to replace their worn/broken/cracked stock tires.

As for the tires, yes, I'm aware the originals are 3 piece. On my revision the center section has been removed, and now they are glued like any other RC wheel/tire combo. Holds the truck up just fine. The rubber is a lot thicker on the new tires than the flimsy stock big bear stuff.

As for MCI, I've dealt with them before. a few times, and haven't had any complaints yet.

Got the decals from MCI put on, looks great. Even with the smaller tires, I'm really liking this guy.

Nice restore on a model that pre-dates the whole RC monster truck/Clodbuster craze. I prefer the look of the narrower wheels & tires, too...it somehow looks more to-scale than with the oversized OEM wheels & tires.

Got some Axial lights to replace the absurdly hard to find originals. I used the Big Bear stickers on the lenses.

We need more pics of this!

Those tires looks great... much more to scale than the original.

Nice work on the old monster truck. And it is a Datsun. I like your bench / table, nice repurpose there.
Hope you're doin' something fun.

Just got my Big Bear out of the attic. Tires are shot, speed control is shot, want to get it going. I e-mailed 1001modelkits.com to see if they had any recommendations.
