Hey guys. I'm getting an Ultima together and i'm getting down to electronics. I have an old Novak unit and some old futaba magnum Jrs i'm planning to use, but I have no idea what kind of servo would be appropriate for this era of car... from what i've found it's 1986ish at the time of release. The car came with an aristocraft radio and servo and ESC set, but these are all pretty much shot. Any help would be great.

I would think a futaba s128 would be spot on.

I thought in that time they were the S28 (s128 was the revamped 90's version followed bytthe 148)?

The S28 and S128 are one in the same. Adam I have one if you need one. You know where to reach me at. The S28 has more torque than the S148. S28 has 48oz/in tq and S128 has 41oz/in tq.

I found a few mre period correct servos you can use too.

Futaba FP-S132 33.40 oz/in tq
Futaba FP-S130 55.60 oz/in tq
New Kyosho KS-88b no clue on tq. I'd assume about 40 oz/in.

Tim, you know i'll be taking at least one of those off your hands, i'll talk to you about it later. Gotta wait for my new parts to come in before I install the servo anyway. Scary part... I think we have gear sets for the 128 at work...

I have gearsets for all the servos I listed in my stash at home. I also have gearsets for those crappy Aristocraft servos. Also the old Expert and World Engines servos.

what would be a appropriate novak speed controller for a 1984 release rc10? i have a novak speed servo, novak reciever (with the 3 male prong plug).. but a speed controller has been holding me back, at least finding one that is

LMAO! Aww come on. That was my first radio EVER. those goofy big white plugs. I had the stick radio and i used to think that likee "trim" thing that cocks the throttle a little bit was for like turbo or seomthing bc my mech speedo wasn't adjusted right so it would only travel to med throttle without it. Why yes i did... i believe the old stuff that has the word "hitec" on it somewhere on the labels. First car i ever resto'd was my Tamiya Hornet (which was my first car)... i did it all the way back to the correct radio, charger and battery pack that i had for it. I was tempted to paint the body on the outside with blue metalic paint like i did when i was 11 but i thought better of ruining a new body like that and painted it the right way.

I knew that. It was just crude in comparison to others available at the time. I'd rather use the Futaba box radio with the wheel(slot car mod of course).

I've got one of those old Aristocraft Challenger radio's with the matching receiver and 2 servo's all with 'those goofy big white plugs' Think there's any interests in that or is it scrap?
