I do not want to use Paypal and I don't want to use Western Union or Moneygram if I don't have to. My bank which is Chase will not transfer money outside of the country so that won't work. Does anyone have any other secure method or options?

Edit....has anyone tried sending money via Facebook messenger? Says it's free for domestic and "small charge" for international

Just checked Facebook and can't send money out of US. That was one I hadn't thought of, thanks Jeff anyway. Where did you see part about small charge for international?

Forgot, yes he is trustworthy but it's him that doesn't want Paypal involved.

Well the article I found that said you could transfer internationally might be wrong, it was just one that popped up.

It sounds like google money might be an option too.

I had never heard of a Walmart service.

I believe it was Google that just announced a product called Ripple, which allows real time money transfers from one location to another, including exchange rate, for a few dollars. Banks world wide are creating similar based technology so that what used to take days/weeks with excessive fees, happens in a matter of moments for a few bucks.

I have not seen it first hand, but there is a video of an actual cash transfer between two globally separated points.

You mean IBAN? My main complaint is that the numbers are too long; otherwise it is easier to use than the old SWIFT/BIC system.

To be honest, the real problem with bank transfers from/to the USA is that the US banking system for smaller customers (not large corporations) is rather underdeveloped and expensive compared to other First World countries. It's changing, but you guys are years behind Western Europe on some points.
It's also the reason Paypal became so popular, as that was an easy way for people to send money all over the world without being bothered by excessive fees and banks that refused transfers (either way) - even though I also remember that in the beginning (early 2000nds) Paypal, being a US corporation, had some issues with understanding that in Europe credit cards aren't as widespread as in the US and that we tend to use direct debit from our bank accounts more, requiring me needing special permission from Paypal (certain time of membership, proof of ownership of bank account, phone calls...) to actually use my bank account instead of a credit card...and even then I couldn't use direct debit, I had to specially transfer funds to Paypal via an intermediary company
