Is it difficult to mill the motor plate? Where did you get the motor plate milled?

I bought a Jconcepts motor plate for my Worlds re-re but would love to have a more authentic old school look.

Jake milled the motor plate for me while he was cutting my carbon stuff.

jwscab did the milling on my Satoshi Maezumi build (re-anodized afterwards). Maybe he would be interested in tackling another?

Got a little work done on this. Bent the chassis up in the back (i'll explain) and finished up the alterations on the motor plate. Shortened the wing tubes a little bit too.

I was showing some progress pics to Brad Reelfs of the tub mods and he asked if I was going to bend the chassis up at the back. Thinking back to Cedric's build I didn't remember that being covered. So I asked what he meant. He said there was a jump section that guys were having trouble with on landing, so either Roger or Curtis went around and bend the rear of the chassis up behind the arm mounts (similar to a B2/B3). This is the reason for the single center screw at the back. I marked it up, put it in the sheetmetal break and bent it up about a full hole at the back.

So this is where it's at until some more hardware comes in. I'll start to get the turnbuckles and shocks built awhile.....

I had some better pics I wanted to attach, but half of them wouldn't upload. Ever since the upgrade i have nothing but problems with pics on here......

Yeah. It took awhile for the screw to jump out at me. The angle cuts on the front corners of the tub, too. I only saw those when it came time to start my build. All those years of seeing the original and never noticed it.

There is also a pair of battery box holes about an inch ahead of the factory ones. Must have run a side by side 7 cell pack in that car at some point. I didn't put those in it though.

Here it is as a roller. Tires are temporary, I'm still trying to figure out what i want to put on it. Doing a hypothetical....... If Kinwald was back at the '93 Worlds..... same car, same track..... but had access to modern day tires, what would be his go to tire? I've talked with Jason Ruona and Brad Reelfs about it to get their thoughts. And, sent Brian a message on FB to see what he thinks. Haven't heard back from him yet though.

Missed the angle cut up front as well. What the hell! I thought i had an eye for details

The modern white wheels is something that bugs me as well. Have yet not tried to dye them other then black. I'm hesitant to if they will look good with a "vintage white" dye as they have a gloss surface. Might end up patchy.

Alright, so i played around dying the wheels. Tried tea first, too brown. So I tried to stick them in a very diluted golden yellow bath. I now have a nice beige set of wheels. I'll use them on something, they actually don't look to bad. Just don't match the white parts on the chassis.

So, i only have one other new set of white wheels. This time i decided to stick with the diluted yellow dye. I didn't leave them in long and the fronts already seemed darker than the rears. And, the insides do to their rougher finish took the dye quicker than the outer face. So i ended up just holding the rears face down in the dye a little longer to try and match the outer fronts. Seemed to work. I'll fairly happy with the results. it's something to play with again in the future.
