Sooooooo, when you get 3 of the kits and none of them are being built stock, you tend to have a lot of parts left over. And of course, you just have to do something with them.
There are also of few parts I have that aren't pictured. But with some hinge pins, body mounts, shocks, a diff (already have the case, top shaft and idler), slipper, CVA's, some bearing and a couple other bits, I can throw another one together.
On the back burner for now though.

I think you should anodize the black chassis gold...

That's a thought. I also thought about fluorescent red power since my local guy has some left from my last project.

I bought up some auctions from a broke down kit the other day. Still need more items like a diff gear, cva's, servo mounts, ball studs, and some bearings. But I'm a little bit closer.
Still unsure exactly what direction I want to go with this.

Alright, so I guess this one will now be a modernized Kinwald replica. Started cutting and grinding on parts tonight.

Cutting up some parts on a snowy day. Added the "worlds" camber hole to the bulkhead and altered the sides, drilled the set screw holes in the front arm mounts, shortened up the battery box, and angle cut the antenna mount. I think that's all of the needed modifications on the plastic parts other than black dye.

I realized late last night that I angle cut the wrong side of the antenna mount. Oops..... try again.

I was wondering if they were running Capri Sun straws as antenna tubes or something haha

It's not gonna work for this replica, but at least it's still useable. It'll find a new home on something.

Between last night and tonight, I got the alterations done to the tub and nose plate. I had planned on getting a black classic tub for it, but I figured since it wasn't going to be an exact replica I'd save myself $65-70 and use one of the milled tubs I already had.

Moving forward on this. Held up a little bit on some blue hardware right now. But, I dyed the bulkhead, steering bellcranks, castor blocks and knuckles. Used Classics rear hub carriers instead of the worlds style, and used the old style inner hinge pin to use the white spacer at the front like Brian did. On the front end, I countersunk the shock mount holss on the arms so the flat head screws are a little more flush, and replaced the standard kingpins with longer outer hinge pins like Brian did on the original. Also used a 1/2" aluminum screw at the back of the nose plate instead of the steel 1/4" screw.... like Brian.
I still have to finish the alterations on the motor plate, but I needed to mount the trans case in the chassis to see how much I need to bend the chassis at the back. Not sure I'll be able to use the white nylon nuts with the new style shock caps unfortunately.

Looking good, very "crisp"
The milling looks nice, I like the way it all ties together.
