Cool, I like the unique direction you went with that build. Are those 2.2" wheels? They look even bigger than what I used on my Barney Optima. I also love how the original Optima body looks with a wing. The Kyosho shock socks are a nice touch, too.

Thank you 😃
The wheels 2.2 made for the Traxxas Mini E-revo 1/16

Nice, I chose 2.2" Axial Rocksters wheels for the Axial crawlers, and there are lots of options for finish (black, white, black chrome, chrome) and other designs, too. It's also good that there's a good amount of negative offset so the wheels mount quite easily and tires won't rub on the shocks. The Axial AX8097 8-Hole wheels even look similar to the Turbo Optima wheel design. 8)

It's good to know about other wheel options for the Optima. :)

I like optimas :D

My own little jury is still out on uber-modern wheels on classic old-school rides

To each his own :!: :)

Can I have more detail around the body and how you have attached the wing. I have dug out my old Optima and would love to swap the body out and add a wing to it. Cheers

Craig, there are two ways commonly used to add a wing to the Optima chassis; one is to bolt wing mounts to the rear shock tower, and the other is to mount wing mount tubes to the top chassis plate. If you're using the stock Optima body, both require drilling some small holes so the wing wire ends can insert into the body. For the vertical wing mount posts, I made my own...if the posts are long enough, and you bend the wing wire ends just a bit, the wing wire will press firmly enough into the posts to secure the wing, but allow it to rip out if you roll the car. The other reason I did it this way with the Barney car is that it's kind of hard to secure the wing wire ends with grub screws--when the body is installed on the car.

EOL, I'm interested to have a closer look at your wing mount, too. Thanks!

Where did you get those "Kyosho" shock covers? Will they fit the stock red shocks on a Re-re Optima?
