Do you have a preferred/loyal brand RC?

I was a early Losi nut for the better part of my vintage RC obsession. Oddly I never owned one back in the late 80's early 90's when I was at my racing peak. Back then I raced Schumacher Topcat, YZ10 (First trophy ever) and a Kyosho Turbo Optima Mid SE (First car on on a real track). I also dabbled in an Ultima Pro of a customer of the hobby shop worked at. He liked building them and letting me drive them and I turned a lot of laps with his car.

Just to change I am currently on an RC10 obsession but have come to realize I like everything to much from the golden era to be a one car/make focus sort.

What about you and why?

Mines electronics but I've been a loyal Tekin fan since the 90's when I started.

Their customer service is second to none, the simplicity of their new products are worth every penny. I've tried every electronics brand on the market at some point or another and I always go back to Tekin.

Funny, I hate the electronics part, I want them to work. Beyond that I have no interest and the simpler the better. My best friend who is an Electrical Engineer is like you. I spend all day staring at gears and he stares at volt meters with longing affection.

I started out with an AE car and have never looked back in 25+ years. I appreciate the many other brands and see the appeal of them, but it has always been AE for me.

vintage wise I was a traxxas fan. First car was an AE RC10GT and really didn't like anything traxxas after the SRT/LS1 stage so here I am.

What Todd said. I don't have anything Traxxas past 1994. I DID have a 1/18 slash but it sucked so I had to "slash" it from the herd. I guess I am more loyal to a time period in the hobby which is also why most of us are here.

R/C Plus!

Good point, I just realized I gravitate to roughly 88-92. At that point in my life I loved all RC and worked at a hobby shop. Probably why anytime I get too focused on one make or model, I get restless.

That's why I continually go back to Tekin, I will say the Reedy 800 and 1000Z ESC's were very user friendly. Also why I prefer to run 17.5 blinky because there's no thought, put it in blinky calibrate and be done with it.

I'm quite the opposite, I have never liked stock classes because while it's supposed to level the playing field I believe it's more expensive to race then mod.

At least with mod you have more power then needed so it makes up for shortcomings in electronics etc. In stock racing if you don't have "X" esc with "Y" motor and "Z" batteries you wont be up the front.

I personally find dynamic timing far easier then trying to be competative in stock.

If I was able to run more I'd be back in mod but my job keeps me either overseas or somewhere there is no RC about 8 months a year. But I do agree, trying to be competitive in stock is ridiculous amounts of money. I've had to take the "I'm only here for fun" route, but it also doesn't help the tracks I do race at have a plethora of former national and sometimes worlds level drivers and they run stock too just because it's the biggest class.

I was thinking of just throwing a 13.5 in my racer and running mod, mild enough to handle when you haven't driven a car in 4-5 months, fast enough to keep up with the hacks lol
